Someone give me information about Fergie..and how does he spin without headphones?

I saw someone post that this guy spins or spun once without headphones.....omg how is this possible......if so then this should be the guy we should be raving about!!!!
Can someone please give me some info on him cuz im not too familiar with him!

bleh

Hard House dj, quite popular and quite good.
But, hard house, nonetheless! emm, he's no Tony De Vitt
although I'll give him credit for spinning Till Tears Do Us Part--stellar song.

i guess he'd prolly mix records in really fast just by pitch bending...

hmmm.. how wouldja know where to cue the record tho?!??

Posted by Pjotr G on Mar-14-2002 08:38:

maybe he listens to the needle...i doubt that holds in a club environment tho

Posted by zapper on Mar-14-2002 09:54:

He definetely does not listen to the needle.. What he probably has to do is to mark his records so that he knows the exact cue position, then be VERY familiar with his tracks so that he has at least a general idea of what the pitch settings should be. Or is there another way?

yeh, i saw him live and his mixing is incredible he puts his phones on for about.. 30 seconds takes them off, lights up a ciggie, sips some of his vodka and lemonade or whatever it was, has a chat with his promoter, has a laugh etc etc walks up to the decks 5 mins later and mixes in the next song.. no phones.. he only did this once or twice tho but still left me in amazement

and whats also cool is he has a small towel hooked up to the back of his pants and everytime he puts on/takes off a record he gives it a nice wipe and clean

he's labelled as a hardhouse DJ but he starting to spin some trancy stuff now. Eg Rank1 - Awakening, NuNRG- Dreamland

check him out at

This guy sounds cool!

Fergie owns, he's one of the best mixers out there, he's got an ear for the beat, pretty much all his mixes are seamless cos he works so hard on his tracklists, he practices all day every day

Posted by SeeK on Mar-14-2002 12:50:

He probably spins the record till the EQ lights start flashing, and thats when he know where the que is... if ya's know what i mean. Or maybe he's just got a BPM counter, and has mark'd all his records with the BPM's and put them in order??? Still gotta give him credit.

I got told thats how your supposed to start, and low and behold I found it easier to mix without headfones, and it's easier to mix with headfones now. Mixing without headfones isn't THAT hard, mixing with only one channel coming thru your headfones is HARD, had the displeasure of finding that out at a party on saturday night, pulled it off allrite I think

Maybe someone should have told Tiesto how to mix without headfones on that Haoman set lol!!

Um, Fergie's a brilliant DJ, but he plays hardhouse and hardtrance, some of it is quite old too. He's only really been DJing for 2 - 3 years, so he's no doubt gonna get bigger.

Hehe mate I thought better of you than to listen to these silly rumours. They were just good mates right

But yeah I agree I don't think you can call Fergie a Hard House DJ anymore. Have yet to see him live, but from livesets I've heard and from a few radio broadcasts he's definetly moving to the Hard Trance side of things. And good on him I see the Hard House fans are already calling him a defector though... I prefer to look at it as somebody finally seeing the light

He's also released some great hardhouse tunes

Fergie - Deception is great. He also won some kind of DJ of year award in year 2000 i think, and is certainly won of the youngest superstar DJ's around.

Saw Fergie spin last week at Two Tribes in Sydney .. he was AWESOME!!

Probably the best dj i saw all night (and tiesto, mauro picotto and john 00 fleming also played)...

Keep eyes on this guy by all means
