Lightbulb My Purchase

Well guys, tomorrow I will finially bite the bullet and purchase my first pair of cdj's which is also my first major dj purchase. I chose the stanton c314's because of the 4 hot cues, price, effects and other reasons. I am getting the pair for 790$ final price at guitar center. Do you guys think this is a good deal or should I try to bargain more?
Wish me luck.

I think you should buy Pioneer CDJ200's

Posted by SPAWNmaster on Sep-29-2006 14:36:

my personal opinion is to go for cdj200's but ill tell you what man, if your happy with it and i think the stantons are better than getting something like vestax of numark cdj's, then good for you! sounds like a damn bargain btw...but if you have any second thoughts the cdj200's are tried and true.

some pics of them. I know its really messy. I need to find a permanent spot for them. So far I'm really happy with them. The effects are very good, and the unit doesn't feel cheap.

Nice one, please let us know how you get on with them once you've had chance to get used to em

PS I learned on a mixer similar to yours - Numark DM1001, seeing that pic was like seeing an old frined in a photo

Don't listen to all the 200 fanboys man. Congrats on your purchase and I'm sure those Stantons will serve you well!

Yeah but I mean, he already made the purchase. No use making him feel bad about it by saying you shoulda got whatever. That was already made apparent to him, he didn't go with it...so +1 for trying something different.

haha. I remember when I bought that mixer new, almost 4 years ago. It was for my neighborhood radio station. Its a good but simple one.
I'd like to thank all you guys for the positive replys. I have a lot to learn about mixing/ dj'ing. The first being how to burn and catagorize my music

Some people do that, but I personally think it's a waste of CDRs..esp because they come with 700 MB..approx 80 minutes of music. If you know your not going to mix two tracks by the same artist, it just makes sense to put releases by the same artist on one CD.

Posted by Psiweaver on Oct-03-2006 02:58:

I usually look at the vinyl release and burn them that way so all the remixes of whatever song on 1 cd. Plus usually there .wavs so that 700mb gets eaten up fairly quickly.

I organize my cd's with 1 song burned per cd. Allows me to have clear labelling, easy to see in a dark environment. Unfortunately I dont have them categorized in any particular way in my cd book case...I would like to have them by BPM but the way I have them (by the order that I burned them) is how I'm most familiar....it allows me to easily find a track I'm looking for regardless of BPM or artist since I know generally what each page of the book case contains. Cheers

I hope you've moved them off of your bed so you can sleep already =D

It's tempting to play with them constantly.

I haven't found my own style of burning CDs- sometimes I combine different tracks (+remixes), sometimes they're just tracks that I like and fill up a CD.

I do write BPM and key for each track, though. I haven't figured out what I like yet.

Haha ya, I made myself box them up for the week so I can concentrate on school. I have yet to make a good case. You guys are really helpful on Ideas for organizing the cds. I think what I'm going to do is put maybe 2 or 3 artists together on 1 cd and make a copy. That way I'll have 2 of the same CD. The thing about the stantons is that I can put the songs on as mp3's.
