DJ set recommendations
I'm trying to find some live sets that have music that people would be jumping around to (not hardstyle, jump, or anything like that though). I have no idea how else to describe it, but John O'Callaghan @ Godskitch HiFi Ireland is kind of what I'm looking for. I guess it's just regular trance that has the bass turned up or something, I really don't know. I downloaded his "Live on ETN" set, but it doesn't really have the same thing going for it. If anyone thinks they might know of something similar to the above set, I would love to get some recommendations.
well what i would do is:
go to tracklist section
work out what tunes john played
search for other sets with them particular tunes
make a decision as in what genre it is
and go from there
i dunno, i could be wrong, but thats what i would do.
Just send a PM to John O'Callaghan.
I did search the tracklists, but it seems like different DJs, even the same DJs sometimes, play the same version of a song, but it sounds different. I guess they are changing the pitch or something. Maybe it's the speakers in the club, but there is something different about it. Surely someone has been to a club where the music playing made you feel like dancing and at other times it made you just want to jump around and go crazy. I'm looking for the latter. I was looking through the download thread at the trance DJs and there are a lot of them without tracklists, so I have no idea what songs are being played.

ah hes probably after some crowd noise
yeah, definitely love the live stuff where you can hear the crowd screaming in the background.
sometimes i wonder if that crowd noise stuff is artificial,or maybe just rehearsed, or if there is a "scream for the recording" sign that lights up at certain moments. Which prompts everybody. Maybe it is just the idea that they are on the radio, maybe that makes them scream more than usual.
cuz even the big parties I go to
you dont hear screaming like you hear in alot of these sets, though I guess the biggest place i've been is nation in DC, maybe i just havent been to a screamer place. The timing of the screams, nobody I've seen ever gets them all screaming in unison as if they know the tunes so intimately, and I've seen all those top5 trance djs before that have those screamer livesets.
any thoughts?
Yo i think i get what you're talking about, check out "Markus Schulz - Live At Club Dopler 09-16-2006" i don't have a link but just search for it, you'll find it. Also check out some tribal stuff, Marco V. sets for example.

Thanks doza, i will check those out. See, that's why I was asking for help. I would have never thought of Markus Schultz since I associate him with the "without you near" song.
Unwordly, the only clubs I have been to are in Ibiza, and there seems to be some crowd noise going on in there. This year they liked to start singing the "White Stripes - 7 nation army" for no apparent reason. I have no idea how the clubs are in the States though. I think the difference may be that in Europe they are there, in some part, for the music, where as in the US, most people are just there b/c it's the place to be for that night. That's just my guess though.
Not a liveset persay, but the Ferry Corsten Mixed Live @ Spundae album is actually fairly good and has some audible crowd noises. Especially when he cuts the bass and they sing along to Punk.
I think in some livesets you hear the crowd at certain times more-so than you think you should, because they probably change the volumes of diff things for more desired effects. Like a normal recording would just go through a laptop, or w/e, but if you record the crowd along with it, you can change the crowd volume at certain times. Just a guess tho. I know that at the massives i can hear people screaming like the whole time, but nothing as synchronized as on livesets.
You wouldnt want hear the screaming when at a club because if you did, there would be serious problems with the sound system
