Turning a blind eye to flaws for the overall track...

What are you prepared to turn a blind eye to?

For example Bervoets & De Goeij fucked up the breakdown in their mix of Cygnus X - The Orange Theme. Just before the drums kick back in with the main hook, the rhythm is lost.

...But I'm prepared to put up with that because I like the rest of the track.

The same goes for Age Of Love - Brainbug Mix, it has a sound panning from left to right that sounds like a bloody sheep! But the rest of the track is so damn sexy I put up with it.

Do you allow the odd flaw or does it have to be perfect?

you wouldn't have much left if everything had to be "perfect"!

Yeah, very true.

I guess what I mean is can you name any tunes which have mistakes, but you're willing to ignore them?

Just because you don't like it, doesnt mean it's a mistake...

Again, very true.

Looking back at the tracks I mentioned, the sound in Age Of Love is down to personal taste. But surely anyone who's heard the Cygnus X track I'm talking about must agree that the buildup has been messed up?

I'll post a sample in a minute!

Ok I'll re-word the question:

Can you name any tunes with parts that bug you, but you're willing to ignore them because you like the overall track?

Horse - Careful (The 12" Mixes)

I don't know whether it is (Brothers In Rhythm Soundtrack) or (Sasha's Horse With No Name) but the musical part of the song is amazing but when the god awful lyrics come in, I wanted to slam things. I first heard this song at a local record shop last Saturday and was pretty blown away by it. But I'm not gonna lie, as I was listening I was thinking that this track was so good that something was bound to happen to ruin it, and sure enough something did. But the track itself is really good and if I had to I am sure I could put up with it.

Patrik Markus - Silence & Motion (Sassot remix)
i love the intro and the breakdown! the mainpart of the tune, synths melody and the tehcy chords is annoying.
I Can't say i allow the odd though, i always skip the annyiong part

Gouryella - Gouryella, i cant stand the breakbeat part of the track, so i always prefer and have listened to the version on Ferry Corsten - Solar Serenades.

This is a great question....just about the entire body of trance music for the past 8 years is partly listenable, but mostly not.

More specifically, the first 96 bars of every song (or, roughly, the first two minutes) is absolute perfection. Unfortunately, it's not enough to salvage the song, because by then the momentum is killed and I lose interest. When I listen to trance, I usually skip to the next song when this happens. The worst thing to happen to trance music is the breakdown.

Someday, I plan on constructing a trance mix consisting of nothing but these glorious 96 bar intros. The most famous trance anthems ever, without the anthems. Or, as I like to call it...40 records in 80 minutes.

If I don't like a part of a track I either won't spin it, or will edit it to my liking.

End of story.

Imagine a world where trance exists as those first two minutes do, with today's technical gloss? Hmm. Maybe someday.
