Love the mix used on Northern Exposure. On my NE vinyl it just says William Orbit - 'Water from a vine leaf'.

But this ins't the original version which was on one of William Orbit's Strange Cargo albums.

I have been told the version on Northern Exposure is the Xylem Flow mix. Anybody confirm this????

Posted by sljiva on Oct-02-2006 17:06:

yes, version on the ne and ne vinyl is xylem flow mix by spooky

One of my all-time favourite tracks. Just amazing.

Awesome. Love William Orbit! Been listening to it since his stuff since I was born! Thanks to both my parents who loved WO back in the day

All the Strange Cargo albums are amongst my all time favourites.

the mix on NE is definitely the xylem flow mix with the 4x4 beat while the original is the one with breaks

after listening to the original i kinda dig the original more

*EDIT: actually im not sure if an original exists...theres only three mixes of this tune being the acidwater mix the underwater
mix and the xylem flow

What do you mean? Original mix appears on Strange Cargo III. Then there's 2 Spooky mixes (Xylem Flow mix & Acid Bath mix), 2 Underworld mixes and Orbit's own Chromer Chroma mix.

on discogs all i saw was the xylem flow acid bath and underwater mixes

Original Mix (on Strange Cargo III)

Xylem Flow Mix, Acid Bath Mix, Underworld's Underwater Mix part 2, Cromer Chroma Mix

Underworld's Underwater Mix part 1

I can't remember how long the Underwater mix 1 is.. as it might be the one appearing on The Best Of Strange Cargos. Or then it's just an edited version of part 2.

sample plz k thx

It is indeed a lovely piece of music. It's just a shame the rest of Strange Cargo III was so lacklustre.

Heresy!

Some is a bit odd...especially the gun shot part towards the end of the album (can't remember the track off the top of my head). Scared the crap out of me one late night studying at Uni!

Scroll down. First track. It is sampled quite a bit actually, especially by the BBC Golf department!

That's the feeling I get from this track, too. Very entrancing.

i listened to his new album at towers the other day, and it reminded me very much of 'porn-music'

it was good though

Which version is on Ishkur's Guide?

Under 'House' then 'Progressive' in the middle of the screen.

xylem flow mix.

original (on strange cargo III): ambient breaks + some singing during the second part of the song.

xylem flow mix (on cdm, ne & ne vinyl): prog. house without singing, only the same girl's speak at the beginning and the end of song. probably the best prog. house tune ever, alongside little bullet (pt. 1).
