A few quick thoughts as I just finished listenin' to this:

- Didn't care for the first 3 tunes, but that's a personal preference matter as I'm just so incredibly sick of "Easy" and "The Things You Say" that I genuinely hope I hear neither tune ever again. The mixing is solid and kept me interested though, which was good because...

- The second half of the set (specifically from "The Now People" on) was amazing. Really, really solid stuff here Andrew, well programmed, interesting use of Ableton - I'm impressed.

The one sad thing about reviewing sets from you Andrew is that they'll always be compared to your GDJB guest mix from October of 2004, which is still to this day one of my all time favorite sets (the first place I ever heard "The Drake Equation"), and probably the measuring stick (whether or not that's fair) against which I judge pretty much everything from you. Still, well done.

Althogh I myself am pretty tired of The things you say, it's still a solid track. I agree with RJT in that the first half of the set didn't have me thrilled, but towards the middle, it got really good. Very enjoyable set though, keep it up. I'll start looking for your works.

was just thinking this myself the other day, where have all these greats artists gone? I mean look at the tracklists of my sets from last year, and not only mine but from guys like ozgur can, derek howell, kosmas epsilon and stuff.

I used to receive great tracks in the mail every day, artists that I didn't know before. Remember meerkat, lonestar, mercurio, decent, van bellen, mic burns, revivant, bart van wissen, subsky? That was great music that made a set stand above the rest. Nowadays most of the mails I get is either deep emotionless progressive tracks that sound like a drum loop repeated for 10 minutes with some pads over it or some trying-to-be-cool noisy electro...

I still find music that comes out these days to like and play, but it's a totally different story. Only a couple of good tracks per month, that come from the same labels and will go straight in the beatport chart so at the end everybody will get tired of them (see "easy" and some pryda stuff f.e)

perhaps i got a little carried away here, anyway, thanks for the comments and glad you liked the set overall

That's because this sort of scene got very saturated and uncreative. I mean, just go to the GU forums, it's the same old story with every dj and every promo mix, fuck's sake, of course it was going to get bad. I know exactly what you mean when you talk about how bad this sort of prog scene got, it's ridiculous- If I could trace it to one album, I'd say Nick Warren's GU28 marked the end of this sort of prog- it has just seemed to get soo boring...

I've had to start combing other "genre's" for tunes I can really get into and enjoy, and I hope that a lot of the artist from this scene start as well- A lot of the people making this music are using the same VSTs, on the same sequencer's with flavour whatsoever. It's either to get a release or get popular or whatever- it seels like it has nothing to do with them actually making good high quality dance music. Also, a lot of the people makin big tunes in the last couple years have sort of floated of the map a bit...

There are however some artist who are still makin' it happen for me, a lot of the people out of Argentina still have some very fresh ideas, Greece, Australia, but for the most part a good chunk of a LOT of these producer's work is just very mediocre.

In my opinion...
