what the hell is up with the school shootings?

two more today:

student spotted with a gun in a Las Vegas school

Several killed in Amish school shooting

that makes for like, what, 5 school-gun incidents in the past 2 weeks?

I think it has to do with guns been cool you know.

The socio-economic stratification in America right now is a lot bigger deal than many think. I'm not implying a completely causal relationship, but it would seem to me that the growing disparity between rich and poor, right and left, blue collar and white collar, etc. could be large source of problems for many young people growing up in America right now, particularly young white males.

This of course would lead into the whole "Men in Crisis" theory that is popular among contemporary sociologists, which is perhaps validated by many of these incidents.

This is most certainly pure speculation on my part, and I'm by no means an expert, but there's a fair amount of sociological evidence to support the hypothesis.

Baning guns wont do anything. If I want to murder someone, I don't have to use my Glock, I can use a knife just as easily. Ban knives? I'll use a pipe. Ban pipes? I'd like to see construiction go on for 1, and, I'll use my bare hands.

Point being, you cannot stop wanton killing sprees by banning guns.

No, you can't stop someone who's intent on murdering regardless, but I bet if you banned guns, a good deal of murders would not take place in the first place, and you'd have a heck of ajob trying to kill lots of people in seconds with a drain-pipe.

I disagree. Its so easy to pull a trigger from 10 feet away. Any asshole can do that. It takes real balls to stab a man to death, which I'd bet half of gun murderers don't have.

I think RJT made a good point. The soulution is the real problem though.
