quick setup emu 1820m

i got an emu 1820m now, but i don`t know how to use it with
a nordlead 3 and nuendo (read cubase)
the patchmix isn`t really that simpel for starters.
sure, the included template voor cubase is easy, but
what exactly do i need to setup in cubase
(for 4(2 stereo) channels of the nordlead to be played in the cubase
mixer, when i`m not using the template, because of existing projects ?
and what about the patchmix ?

(i still use it in 96khz mode because my pc can`t handle the project in 192)

Assuming you've already got the MIDI part working, all you need to do is connect the audio out of your synth to the audio in of the 1820 or breakout box. As far as PatchMix is considered, the default templates *should* already have strips set up for each audio in, but if not, then just append a new strip and select the correct physical source from the drop-down, give it a descriptive title (optional), then open up the VST Connections in Nuendo and create a bus mapped to that ASIO strip.

hi

i did that, the sound works (the levelmeter is also moving in cubase), but again the volume of the fader in "cubase" doesn`t have any effect when slided up or down.
the effects don`t work on that too.
(i`ve got direct monitoring turned off, in the cubase setup)

I assume that you've also created an audio channel to use said input bus, and are not just playing it through?

thanks, i`ve used the standard patchbay setting and that 1820 recording template for cubase.
i didn`t know i had to make an audiochannel besides the inputchannel
and then click on the monitor of that audiochannel to make it work.

now the only thing i have to do is to copy all these settings from the patchbay preset on 44 and fill them in at a 96 rate.

that should do it.

then the ins should show to choose from as in for the audiochannel.

thanks again i actually heard my nordlead through an effect now, it`s good

does it matter where to use the effects, on input or the audiochannel ?

I don't really use the Emu effects but I'd suggest putting them on the audio track, not the input. It'll be less of a headache down the road if you want to change the effect; if it's on the input, you'll have to re-record the entire part. Plus there tends to be a bit of latency on the Emu FX and it's easier to adjust for on a recording as opposed to realtime audio.

The knowledge base on E-MU's site isn't too bad if you have any further problems:
