i hav a friend who has a friend, who if u give him an mp3 and �40, he will press this mp3 onto vinyl. This is great coz u can make a name for urself for playing stuff only top dj's hav.

What i was wondering tho was how does such a machine actually work? and also, how much is a machine like this and where can u get them from?

yea i think ur rite. They can be played about 50 times before the quality degrades

Dubplates can be played about 10-15 times before starting to sound noticably bad. So I don't think it's such a great deal for playing tracks you have as MP3 (not like it's allright to play MP3d stuff anyway, especially in public ...)

Vestax is making an actual vinyl cutter (actually, I think its already out).. Im pretty sure its not only for dub plates.. and its about $1000 canadian if Im not mistaken

Yeah it is already out, it's called the VRX-2000. I don't even want to start thinking about how much it costs.

yup.. vestax has a vinyl groover and also another company as well.. and here in the states i saw it for $9,999 u.s !!!!!!! ouch thats expensive... if your friends friend has that then he must have a money tree growing in his back yard =) lol

Notice that you need to take a special course at the states in order to operate that machine.

Also notice that they say nothing about the quality and durability of the produced vinyl...

i heard that the quality comes out to CD quality if you know how to correctly operate it... but if you dont then you can make it come out really shit! but i think as long as your main audio source is send quality sound then thats the way it will come out.... but of course there is that little decrease in quality when you record anything.

Wronng wron wrong, TO make a record, You need to get a metal plate, You then need to crave the metal plate which turns out ot be a record. This cost 100$ alone (Just for the plate to be carved) And then, After you do two plates (One for each side) They then connect it to a electronic arm the plate acts like a stamp. Then they heat it up, And tsart to send the vinyl's through. And then it stamps the vinyl makeing the implant, And then they send it off down the belt to be put into a sleve, Shrinkwraped, Or anything else that needs to be added. In the U.S a record (1) cost about 5$, You can buy them in bulk for, 1000 records for 750$ (Give or take..) And the Vestax record cutter is not good at all, The needle cost 200$ and last 20 hours. Which is bad! Its cost $9,9999.00 According to the source below, Who I wouldnt reccomend due to they dont save you money.

its alot cheaper, and better, if you go to a vinyl plant, and get them to make your records.. I was looking into one, its like $1500 for 350 records or something.. but the more records you get, the cheaper they are individually.

A blank record cost 5%, COlored ones cost about, 10$ (?) I think. But you buy them in bulk, And make the money back when you sell them.
