What cheers you up when your sad?

I've been going though some tough personal things in my life over the last few months and I have been rather down lately and I was wondering when you guys are down what cheers you up more then anything?

vodka

honestly, good friends(they're a treasure), music, and keeping busy. when you're out experiencing new things it's harder to dwell on the other ones that kept you down.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings

99 Trance

Got me through some of the hardest years of my life.

I start by appreciating little things of life. Like enjoying a good meal. Or watching kids play.

Searching for calm in hectic life.

I usually stick to video games and get high...and I have this unusual love for cereal, so I buy lots of cereal and just eat it all the time. Its weird, I know.

i go away from whats makin me sad and listen to music!!

Music and friends....

Nothing works better than this...

I've tried the music and friends which helps a bit. A vacation helps too because you get yourself away from the atmosphere where you're most likely sad. Also, keep yourself insanely busy so you don't have to think about whatever is troubling you.

Oh, working out helps too! Releases endorphins which help boost your mood.

One things for sure, Larisa doesn't cheer me up, she just tells me to iron her shirt
WTF!

nothing....

i sob over my problems for a few hours and then analyze what went wrong. best thing i find is when u look at ur issues and think of people u know personally that have had it worse. it always helps by letting u know that "it aint all that bad..i couldve had it worse"

unless u grieve, u cant get over it. period

SUNSHINE!!!

Brightens me up every time. I do get S.A.D. every year, and sunshine does wonders on my mood not just in the fall and winter, but all year 'round. I go to a tanning booth in the winter sometimes just for the dose of UV. I also have a sun-spectrum light behind the TV as well.

/surprised some gurnie hasn't said 5-HTP yet.

I am exactly the same.

Snuggling with my pets cheers me up as does listening to music.

I am quite regimented with my emotions, I allow myself a certain amount of time to be upset and during that time, I am allowed to cry, wallow, let my leg hair grow and cry some more but I know there is an end to it because I have set it for myself.

The great news about this plan is that I am usually mended and well again WAY before that target because I have allowed myself to grieve or process what has happened in my life and either make the changes I can or accept what I can't.

Good luck buddy, I hope that you find your light at the end of the tunnel.

xxx

The best is to get out of the city, and go for a hike in the woods up north, Get lost in the woods and u will forget about all your problems... It might take sevral hours to get back to your car, but in that time you will feel free of all your everyday cares and problems, you will think of one thing and that is how do i get back to my car before it gets dark.

P.S. bring a good friend with u

watching some of my favorite movies always puts me back in a good mood but i agree that having good friends who actually listen and can offer support is the best thing.
