Future Of Food video (degredation of food)
I talked about this a few months ago when some TAs here dismissed any of my points about how the food industry is going in a dangerous direction that is affecting our health, farmers, and nature in negative aspects.
This time I have a video for you guys to see:
Google videos link:
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]
So, did anybody find this interesting? I am very shocked to see no responses. I thought TAs would care a lot more for the food on their table ;-) you guys wanna know whats in YOUR food?
I didn't watch the hippie liberal crap. But I prefer more research done in bioengineering. Think about this we can have as many lobsters, salmon, steaks and not harm nature.
Nature didn't expect human greed/fatass's to depleet almost all food sources.

I think I know where this is going without having to watch something over an HOUR long!
The first line already tips it off, "We used to be a nation of farmers but now it's less than 2% of the population so a lot of us don't know what it takes to grow food".
I'm going to guess that the rest of the video is about how genetic engineered plants are killing off all the natural ones?
As long as we have good samples of non-altered plants stored off to the side, I don't see a problem with creating better ones?
[edit]
If I'm wrong then fine, however how about a little summarization to save some of us the time without having to watch the WHOLE thing??
^ yea I dont see whats wrong with Gen Mod Plants lets say they are made to give off more Nutrients?

Believe me, this is no conspiracy theory stuff, this is very educational material. I recommend you to watch this. If you liked The Corporation, you'd like this - its very similar.

I buy organic foods and foods from local farmers.
Oh, and I heard most estimates suggest that by 2050 there will be close to 10 billion people or something like that. And waybe by 2100 there will be ...
Do the math ;-) no genetic engineering is going to solve the shortage of food on the planet. But the abuse of soil, environment, air, water will only decrease the remaining arable land, like like its happening in Asia and Africa (where Sahara desert has doubled in the last 2000 years). Humans fault for cutting the trees down that stop the spread of the desert!

I mean what are you suggesting then, just stop GE and go all organic? Did you know that organic farming also rapes the land and depeletes the soil, and also causes erosion? Why not just control the industry and look for better technology? Who can you support the idea that no technology is going to be able to help us create sustainable development, i mean you've said nothing with this post. |

Want to know why you people want 90& of the world's population dead. Because the 10% leftover will be 2.2% minority and the rest will be white. What is wrong with this planet is white ppl. Kill em all. |

I avoid geneticaly modified food whenever I can. Unfortunately, being a college student, I can't affort to eat organic all the time. I saw this some time ago, don't remember when exactly. Most of the material wasn't really that new to me, but I'd highly recommend it to others here. And no, I'm not a liberal hippie. I don't believe in unecessarily meddling with nature and upseting it's delicate balance, it usually has a way of kicking you in the ass later. And for all of you guys who think GMO are the solution to starvation, that's quite ludicrous. The motivation for creating GMOs is purely profit driven, at the expense of a natural healthy diet which is what your system is designed to consume to properly maintain it. GMOs help put great sums of money in the pockets of shareholders, not food on the table for the poor and starving. Plus, it's quite nonsensical to criticize it before even having watched it.
