Video of me jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.

This was originally posted on another thread and had some replies, but as the original topic of the thread was solved..I decided this needed its own thread.

Anyhow...here it is for those who hadn't had a chance to see:

The progam I used to convert the dvd files to the appropriate format is at the moment unregistered, so there's an annoying text banner that pops up in the center every 5-10 seconds. I was intending on having my own music with the video, but the videographer already had the dvd finalized by the time I got to the ground and back inside Ah well. Thought I'd share. Enjoy

hey matt i want to jump off of a plane? When Can be the earliest? Pm me

Posted by Matthias on Oct-06-2006 18:24:

According to their website:

Tandem and AFF Schedule

Sat OCTOBER 7: 30 Tandems OPEN - Accepting Reservations Online and by phone.

Sat OCTOBER 7: Aff First Jump Course 8am. OPEN - Accepting Reservations Online and by phone.

Sun OCTOBER 8: 11 Tandems OPEN - Accepting Reservations Online and by phone.

Sat OCTOBER 14: 8 Tandems OPEN - Accepting Reservations Online and by phone.

Sun OCTOBER 15: 4 Tandems OPEN - Accepting Reservations Online and by phone.

The 14th is the next time I plan on jumping cuz I dont get my check until the 15th, but if you want to jump tomorrow just let me know, I dont mind going out there just to hang out with those yahoos. The earlier you get there (they open at 8am) the less you'll have to wait to get to jump.

He doesn't post here all that much but to my understanding Andrew (WE_R_DNA) and his sis made there first tandem and AFF jumps. At least his sis did aff.

All of the dropzones in the state of Texas:

The nearst ones to Houston are going to be Skydive Houston (actually located in Waller, TX) and Skydive Spaceland in Rosharon. Not quite in the city...but on a clear day you can see downtown Houston from over both dropzones.

That was pretty cool.

Matt did they ever tell you how fast (as far as MPH) you were going when you jumped off the plane?

Yeah they go through all of that before your first jump. When you exit, you are initially travelling the same speed of the aircraft - 90mph. After 5-10 seconds, you reach terminal velocity - which is around 120mph in the belly-to-earth position depending on your body weight.

Now...some freeflyers flying in the headdown (falling upside down/vertical) claimed to have reached speeds of up to 180 to 220mph.

Hehe, well I'm unsure of anydropzones or airports that allow bird-hunting around em. Although, I'm a little uncertain about some of the neighbors that live around the SDH property. I wouldn't wanna land near Billy Bob's trailer and have him come out with a shotgun or his pet alligator or some shit.

Than again, I have a higher chance getting shot going to the gas station 2 houses down from me, than over a dropzone.

something to think about

I can only do what I have been trained thus far. Falling stable without turning is proving to be trickier than learning how to mix.

As far as, are the stunts in 'Drop Zone' possible? Its been a while since I've seen the film but the answer would be no for most of them, especially with Snipes limited experience. If you ask this question on www.dropzone.com I'm sure your get a more detailed response.

goddamn over 300 views? Shit, if I could only get that many tandem referrals..that would cover the rest of my AFF and probably enough jumps to qual for the B license. :P

Glad enough people found it interesting tho.

Right on man, whenever you do let us know how it went.

I'm usually there every other weekend, weather and $$ permitting.
