Not at all.
Israel probably has the biggest psytrance scene in the world.

According to an Israeli friend of mine, trance generally refers to psy trance in Israel, not trance as we normally consider trance (which they call 'classic' trance IIRC)

actually they call our trance house, but thats just people who dont know the genres really well, for example hip hop fans, who call techno or trance house music...

this is not only in israel in russia and other places its similar

Locally NuEra drops it from time to time and always rocks the place with his selection and for a bit more of the full on psy; Basilisk. Obviously there are tons of other guys too, but those guys are my favorites for it. (re:comment about Sonic tonight, there is a huge Black Light Activists psy party going on this weekend)

My favorite producers of it are:
1) me
2)Astrix
3)Sub6
4)Space Cat& Pixel
5)Electro Sun.
Honorable mention in top 5 John 00 Fleming

Btw: another reason most of the top guys in this genre are coming out of Israel is because of the role of Astral Projection essentially defining trance back years ago. They also influenced so many local artists and have been a huge support network for that style in the area with thier record label Trust in Trance.

true, but if you listen to oriental israeli music u can see the similarities it has to psy. Psy its very eastern influence, goa and all.

John 00 anyone?

oh yeah, forgot joof,
if youre looking for a kinda trance/psy kinda thing try joof, vibrasphere, and yahel has some songs that are more trance than psy.

I would not argue otherwise. But there is a big reason the top producers of it are coming out of Israel and not Goa. (yes, I do know about Goa's scene and how Goa actually used to reffer to a slightly different style of PsyTrance and how the two have now merged more or less together.)

one my favorite experimental /psy acts! I started a whole thread dedicated to them awhile back after I picked up two of thier CD's. Amazing stuff. See if you can find a video of them live on youtube.com to see how wonderfull their performances are.

From the psy heads i know, the best artists out there at the moment are Bamboo Forest .. heard some of their stuff and its amazing .. other artists worth mentioning

Protoculture - Psy with an Epic trance feel to it ...
Wizzy Noise
Dino Psaras
Rinkadink - his rabbit from the dark side album is gold

I'll throw in my thumbs up for Protoculture and Rinkadink too. I haven't heard anything new from them (/him?) in a few years though, but what stuff of Protoculture (and the one track of RinkaDink) I do have I definatly enjoy.
I haven't heard enough of the others to judge though, I'll keep an eye out for them from now on though.

Edit: I also want to add to my previous list....
-Cyber Cartel,
Beat Hackers,
Cosmosis,
gataka,
Ocelot,
Nytrox (very awesome melodies),
Sesto Sento,
Shanti (very molodic),
Skyform (check out the track Plazma for some psytrance blended with drum and bass!),
Steve Birch (He's signed to J00F need we say more... this guy has talent. His psy is done mainly on the epic banger style, or rather it's epic trance with definate psy influence),
System Nipel (very dreamy stuff at times but still stocked with energy, check out We Can Fly (it's vs. with Electro Sun)),
Ultravoice,
Aquatica,
Xerox,
Chackra (quite good),
Illumination,
Visual Contact and last but not least on my list of favorites that haven't been mentioned yet is
Zorba.
