Hello! Your Type?

im sure this thread was done, before, so if u get pissed just let me know in a nice way, without being an idiot..thank you..

what type of EDM do u like the best? or perfer? or enjoy more? or maybe u enjoy different styles at different times?

let me start off

ive always been more into just trance, vocal trance, house, progressive.

but lately ive really been into psy/goa....and gabber is begining to catch my interest..never heard gabber live but i would love to, cuz the feel is just nuts...

ok lets hear it

Posted by DigDeep on Oct-06-2006 05:55:

gabber mostly.

Posted by geroin on Oct-06-2006 05:57:

psychedelic house

Posted by Xavier Moriarty on Oct-06-2006 05:59:

breaks all the time.

this thing that i call brutal prog. fast, agressive, kinda break-y progressive. chris avila spins it, addy was spinning it at the drink for freedom this year.

tribal, darker = better.

and sex on decks. they used to play it all the time at the drink.

(unless you're serious, in which I appologize.)

I like it all but I love full on psytrance, trancy breaks and anything that breaks the mold and mixes across definable edm genres. Recently I've been listening to a bit of breakbeat industrial psy.

As people may have noticed, I have a real soft spot for breaks .

IMHO i cant stand gabber...I grew up on psy...it was the first genre i listened to actually, and to this day i still love it. i then progressed over to trance, and then to progressive and deep house...from there i got a taste of electro house and i really enjoy that...i still love a good progressive or deep house set although my interests currently lie with electro house. reason why i lost my addiction to trance was that it became reasonably hard to follow, there is just SO MUCH available and you slwoly lose your knowledge of whats new, furthermore, some of my fav trance DJ's started playing the same songs over again...But i still love my Jon O' Bir, Markus schulz, Smith and Pledger, Mike Koglin and Jono grant Sets, as well as a few others. just like the variations of house, Im always up for a good trance set, and always up for some psy. As for breaks, a good breaks track will get me moving, and i love blasting the stuff in the car...im also starting to like drum and bass, and need to be exposed to more of it, but i guess that is a result of me enjoying breaks so much. if none of these other genres were around, id still be happy with my Goa-Psy trance.

I like all types of music... not just EDM. Although EDM is my favorite.
And I listen to different styles depending on my mood.

Same...I still love my punk, oldies - especially 80s, but I love my Frank Sinatra too...all kinda of music...just NOT RAP!

Wow, Lisa I believe you are officially the first person to catagorize 80 as oldies.... and man does it ever make me feel old.

Posted by _EuG_ on Oct-06-2006 15:22:

my favorite are...

Progressive house, Tribal house, and started to listen to minimal a little bit...

as long as its dark and evil i like it

but then again melodic trance in the early hours of the morning 8 am - 10 am is a perfect way to end a night.... (ferry at labour)

Ditto on the punk. I think thats a big reason I love psy... it's just against enough of the mainstream and has those wicked driving bass lines, synths and often guitars. Despite being electronic based I see a lot of similar qualities in the two. Actually to be honest I've been buying a hell of a lot more punk these days than I have been of edm.

I've also completely fallen in love with Tool and other similar harder stuff all over again after grabbing Tool's new album and catching them live twice in the last 2 months! Thier show was so good in San Diego that I had to see them again. (13 people hospitalized from how 'good' the pit was) I don't really go much harder than that these days though.

I just finished mashing up Tool- Vicarious with Orbital- Haylcyon. Swwwweeet melodies from obital with the raw guitars from Tool!

no its not even that... jus the whole vibe there, the darkness, people goin mental, the energy. Once i saw that all that was created with house music (which i didnt realy care much about before), i decided to give this genre a chance. Now i am in Love
