Review: Lawler @ Crobar (10.06.2006)

was definitely a solid night tracks wise. lawler banggggggged it out proper for sure. he played really dark and dirty all night long. some mindfuck minimal madness with some funky house layered on top. dj three did a pretty good job opening. big drawback wass the crowd. how HIDEOUS was that crowd? buncha jersey guidos and random FOB's everywhere. proves why i don't like going to crobar. also the music stopped at EXACTLY 4:30 am which sucked (don't see armin going later guys, sorry to say), NYPD WAS EVERYWHERE too. lawler encored with les djins - sound system (trentemoller rmx) and that was it. nice seeing all the regulars and nice meeting doombot.

few tunes i remember:
dave lambert - house in play
markus lange - ruhestorung plattenbau (oxia remix) w/ oxia - domino (back 2 back this was sickkkk)
dave robertson & jon gurd - the rendition
also buncha new ame remixes with alot of ame styled percs and melodies, just wish i knew what they were.

Lawler once again threw it down...has never dissapointed me thus far. Luzz was right, crowd is god awful, thank god it wasnt nearly packed cuz it wouldve been a mess. Left around 4...tryin to save some energy for armin tonight.

couple other trainspots:

Mono - Fake in
Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back(Lawler's dub mix i think)
Joe T Vanelli - Get it on (dubby mix)

Heard he closed with Silence...guessing maybe the Filterheadz mix?

All in all, crobar blows but still had a great time with friends anyways.

Great fucking night. Great fucking music. Great fucking people.

You all were a blast to party with and damnit those basslines totally destroyed me. Still not over the night and dont know if I will be able to enjoy Armin as much as I want after this night. I am totally blown away right now.

By the way, anyone know if Brian made it home okay?

Nice spots man. That Markus Lange track is awesome. Dj Three always does a good job opening + headling. One of the most underrated djs in my opinion

Lawler is the man, dirty beats all night long!

Crobar was a circus and Lawler was the evil Clown fucking with everybodys heads.....

Hands down best set thus far in 06. Ridiculous mininal crazyness followed by masssive build ups and sick twisted break downs......Lawler is the FUCKING MAN!!! I almost shat myself when he dropped Silience - nose que remix!!! And how about when the fucking alarms went off around 3:30 and the lights were flashing......the music stopped for about 30 seconds and everybody thought the place was shutting down......some how, some way, Lawler built from that and I swear to god it like he was just fucking with everybodys heads.......guy is a genius. I really wish Steve would get a residency in NY because he is the answer to what NY house music has been missing for some time now.

Now on to Crobar......what the fuck happened to this place. The crowd was just HORRIBLE!!! Amagine the normal crazy asians along with drunk Jersey losers trying to hook up with transvestite club whores......YES I'M BEING SERIOUS!! I was almost rolling on the floor laughing at this fucking loser. SHut down at 4:30 on the dot and next thing you know......there are douche bags screaming in the club asking people for drugs Then the cops had the whole block on lock down......shit was nuts.

So on that note.....Steve Lawler was fucking amazing and Crobar still sucks ass. I still give the night a 9 out of 10 because the music was THAT GOOD!!!

The performance was everything I have expected from Lawler.

enough been said not to stretch it any further.

I am just happy I got to enjoy myself @ Crobar because @ Pacha it turned out to be everything I wasn't expecting there from VIBE & Santana.

Les Djinns - Trentmoller Remix

Such an amazing track......sounds a lot like the old school trancey mello sound almost like something Tiesto used to play in the first few ISOS.........perfect encore to a perfect set.

One of the many tracks that destroyed the dance floor!!

Posted by dcctnycprincess on Oct-08-2006 13:34:

got to crobar around 2:30 or so when audiojack - robots was playing - stayed only about 1 hour - dead tired from being sick the entire week and having gone to the new yorker party with michael mayer....left around 3:30 or. music was good, just pretty tired. crowd was just as bad as expected...probably won't go to crobar again no matter who is spinning there.

Actually that mix has had some bad labelling problems.
The reall chilled out trancey mellow sounding one is the "Heads Mix" from 2003.

Yup. I told my friend after the show that I would definitely love to see DJ Three headline a night. He was laying down some rediculous tracks and you could obviously tell he was in full control of what was going on on that dance floor.
