Atmosphere Strings - WOW!!!

Some of you may already know, but I just got Atmosphere recently. I'm completely blown away by the pads and strings!!!

For those that don't have it, check out two samples I did with a couple patches...its just the strings - no Trance stuff

having been in an orchestra for the past 9 years i can honestly say those sound 99% realistic. wow!

yeah they're good but its their moving noises and sweeps that make that synth amazing

Atmosphere is cool but dosent give u much options to edit something...perhaps filter cutoff and envelope adjustments but the synths has its own made presets means u cant change waveforms or something...and u can recgonise the sounds from it on every production today...which turns it into overrated plugin

I disagree, you can blend every sound with another and modify them into oblivion. It's all in the user...

minus the hardcore reverb maybe, but take away the reverb and the movement would sound very hollow. Its a great string patch to be used in EDM, but if its used to subsitute actual orchestra strings, no way. the only believable orchestra libraries IMO are:

East West Symphonic Orchestra (Gold is the version i own)
Vienna Symphonic Library

itd get tricky when you throw various parts cresendos and decresendos in there and a little pizz... then a pad just doesnt cut it.

but the tonality and freq range is very similar to that of an orchestra

well isnt atmosphere a sample playback synth? its not a soft synth...

so it should sound somewhat realistic

Yeah atmosphere rocks, i love using it for textures and soundscapes. Usually i layer it for my pads though. Btw i like your sample string david!

Regarding the reverb, I do have a reverb plugin on the audio output from these strings....

Overrated? I disagree. Overused would perhaps be a better term to use. Its probably used so much because of how well it sounds. Personally, I don't care if I might be using the same string patch they used in some Lord of the Rings sequence. If it sounds good, I'm happy!

it might be a little overused but its great. you could say the same for any popular synth really.

and theres still a decent amount of control over the parameters. adding layers and so on.
