MAURO PICOTTO & john OO fleming Review & Pics!!

It was so great to see Mauro again and finally meet his gf. Overall, I had a great time seeing everyone and seeing Mauro, but I'm not a big fan of the Spundae venue or crowd. It's VERY rare for me to stay at Spundae till the very end.

Mauro played alot of sick mind-fucking tracks, and alot of old skool tracks like BAUGETTE, PULSAR, TAUB, NEW TIME NEW PLACE, PANDORO (because of the signs we made for him ). But, he didn't play as hard as I expected or how he used to play. He played alot more mellow than usual. I don't care though, cuz he still rocked it!

I hope u guys enjoyed him.




JOOF was a nice guy too! He actually played some decent non-cheesey stuff, from what I heard from him. Raoul, I can't believe you told him I was there only to see Mauro. I felt so bad! lol

i stayed till the end. picotto did play hard but i dont know how hard he used to play so i cant compare. joof killed it too. is it true that this is the last time picotto was in LA?

I meant during the earlier sets. I did catch about 45 minutes of Fei Fei though. I was in the main room for all of Picotto's set.

Mauro was sick! I can't be sure but I think he dropped an old hard techno track from his 2000 essential mix. It was NUTZZZo!

Prologic: The track you asked me about is 'Astrix-Neural Cortex' from his forthcoming album called 'Red Means Distortion'. The names are still tentative as the release is still a few months away. Hommega will have more info to come shortly.

I have a good TL but I have to wait for the new Wizzy Noise album to put the correct names on the tracks.

Great night, pitty that John had to really hold back, but it was the gentleman thing to do. He played much more progressive than usual. The new Wizzy tracks that he played were just AWESOME. I love that Wizzy feeling, especially in a club. You can always tell a Wizzy Noise production before the track is even fully mixed in! He also played 'Rasa Lila (Siberian Son Remix)' which was a rather nice treat. The Digital Blonde vocal mix of 'KIDD - Lost in You' was massive! The Xerox and Illumination tracks got me going as they always do and then Astrix -Coolio (Infected Mushroom remix) just destroyed it! That is like an all time psy classic! John's closing track 'Vibrasphere - Seven Days Till Daylight' is one of my top tunes ATM but got cut off by Mauro just as the bassline was going to come in

As for Mauro: The dancefloor was quite comfortable while J00F was on but got megapacked when Mauro entered with his posse'. It got too packed for my comfort at the front so I had to drop back and observe from a distance. I have been a Mauro fan for years but I was very disappointed last night. I just can't get into his new stuff. Picotto was kicking ass up until late 2003/early 2004 IMO. I hung around for about 40 minutes but had to punch out of the yawn factory that was Mauro's set.

It was great to see all the usual suspects and a few new ones. Always a blast when you have good friends and good music. BTW, what was up with the new dancers?

Curly, the track that I asked you for but all you gave me back was "ID" is actually Perry O'Neil- 'Bass Society' (Armind). I knew it was Perry O'Neil but I couldn't remember the name. BTW, you are the worst person to ask for ID's LOL.

I really enjoyed JOOF's set last night. It sucked he could not unleash last night. But I understand he wanted to respect Mauro. At least he unleased for the last part of his set.

JOOF killed it last night!

Mauro takes over the decks and I was wating for him to unleash as well.. but it never happend. I really disapointed in his set and quite board. I know he can play harder! But why didn't he. For me the tracks went no where.

Oh well. I still had a great time regadless. It was great seeing all the TA's out last night

Me too, its tough going against a DJ such as Picotto, who hardly makes it out to LA and who everybody came out to see....but I had a blast, as always.

heres my review:

the music overall was not my style but i always appreciate the djs. even if i dont like what they are playing i will still cheer them on as i did this time. mauro was too techy for me but still loved that he came out. especially since i have heard some rumors that he is nearing retirement.

Josh: i liked your set a lot!

Eric: same with yours!

Bob: you know i dont like psytrance but you were doing great as always.

and my sister had a GREAT time. she said it was nice meeting all of you that she did (she wont remember most) but she was soo sore yesterday she says. so yeah she had a lot of fun.

Bummer I could only stay till 11 before heading to Avalon for Nic Fanciulli....I saw the peeps though as usual, had a drink, danced a bit, said hello then good bye!! I'm sure it was a good night though, but Nic @ Avalon.............PACKED the house!!!!!! And I finally fell off the podium!!! Well didn't fall off too bad, there was a gap from the podium to the stage and one big step back and whoops!!! Didn't actually hit the ground, I saved it...but after 2 years of dancing, I finally took a small digger!! I'm somewhat prooud of that though...See you this weekend @ Spundae for ATB and BASIC PERSPECTIVE!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!

ROFL so is this a first or is this a normal occurance?

and yes i will be out this weekend. unsure if spundae or vanguard or both. just depends on if my sister comes or not.

J00F and Mauro are class-acts....you could feel the respect between them while they were shaking hands and talking....I consider myself a hardcore Picotto fan, but im not taking anything away from J00f that night......Picotto is a a fuckin monster.....honestly he knows exaccccccctly what hes doing. I think after Saturday night the final nail in the coffin was placed, he is hands down my fav DJ....
