Nightmares

I keep having these awful recurring nightmares about some sort of evil spirit trying to come in my body. Its not the same exact dream, but always the same theme. Im always aware of this spirit in the room with me even though I cant see it, I know where it is. And usually theres other people in my dream too and Im freaking out, hoping the spirit doesnt jump in my body. It sucks! I probably have it about once every 2 weeks for the past 4 months or so. And what makes it even freakier is that it is accompanied by mild sleep paralysis sometimes. I feel the paralysis coming on and I wake up and I fight it for dear life by wiggling my feet a little and Im always able to come out of it before it fully sets in. This also happens when Im getting ready to fall asleep. I know that the sleep paralysis is due to my overactive mind lately and my body just shutting down telling me, SLEEP GODDAMNIT JAMIE. Its really annoying me. I wonder why this is happening.

lol, You sober?

Anyways, dreams are fun. Even when they are scary, I find it amazing that they are so vivid, and detailed.

it's been passed down in my heritage as a 'ghost hold' where you are awake but you can't speak or move your body...your eyes are open but you just can't function. i've experienced that a few times throughout my life, one in particular on a bus ride back from boston.

some say it's from sleep deprivation where your body is passed the point where it needs to rest but your mind has become accustom to staying awake. Often associated with 'limbo'

=)

What that's called is Astral Projection, your soul is supposedly covered with 7 bodies, physical body, astral body, arieal body and few others, that astral body leaves your physical body, in other words your physical body falls asleep yet your mind is concious and awake. Your astral body is so light that it floats up and you can see yourself sitting, sleeping, or others, No you're not dead.

If it happened to you then you're very fortunate 'cause there is a load of people out there who are purposely trying to achieve astral travel. Consider yourself lucky.

well i'm not getting the whole sleep paralysis experience. i've had that once before in my life and it was the scariest thing ever. i felt like there was some sort of evil being sitting on my chest, sucking the air out of my mouth.

but with these nightmares that i keep having, i get woken up by the feeling of the paralysis slowly starting, and i fight it, and i always win. it's like i realize it's happening and i'm like, "shit, no! damnit!" and i start wiggling my feet really hard and it breaks it.

sounds something similar to lucid dreaming, never heard or associated the term astral projection with such an experience.

now i've tried lucid dreaming and haven't successfully been aware that i was awake in a dream state and no, i haven't seen my body sleeping that'd just freak me the fuk out!

Slylee, I don't know what you did in your past, but if Karma is catching up to you then I'm sorry to hear your situation, sooner or later you may not break free from it anymore. If it's happening more and more I would really try to sit down and figure out if you did anything bad in your past, I mean things like:
- break hearts
- use people
- hurt people
- steal
- badmouth others constantly
- put down other people
- swear at the Big Guy above

and so on and so on. Look out kid.

No it's far from lucid dreaming, lucid dreaming is when you're dreaming, you know you're dreaming, you are fully aware of your state in a dream, and you can control your dreams and their outcome, that is lucid dreaming, absolutely fucking awesome, I was able to achieve that few times, freakin great. Nothing better than to be able to control your dreams.

But yeah, far from astral projection.

Then if I were you I would try to change your life a little. Funny how you mentioned ghosts in your room. You're probably gonna hate me big time for what I'm about to say but I think you should know: I also presence around me last night, but it wasn't evil, it was just the opposite, I felt angel hugging me to sleep, I closed my eyes and there was light that was getting brighter and brighter above me, but I've went through a lot of crap purifying myself so probably that's why.

I'm sorry you're having nightmares Jamies - But some of the responses in this thread have made me absolutely cringe.

Posted by StanVoid on Oct-09-2006 16:05:

When you dream, there are no rules. People can fly. Anything can happen. Sometimes theres a moment as youre waking when you become aware of the real world around you. But youre still dreaming. You may think you can fly, but you better not try it.

Thank god Im not the only one. This happens to me quite often.......sometimes ill fall asleep at my desk....and I can hear people walking towards my desk......so I try and get up....but I cant move any part of my body....like Im paralyzed. It happens to me so often that Ive started to enjoy it.

totaly sober, what made you think otherwise?

Posted by Slylee on Oct-09-2006 16:06:

lol thanks Ms. Cleo (celestialmind), but are you for real? christ, i'm not like a mass murderer or anything.

Ive had my fair share of moments in the past, but nothing out of the ordinary I would say. Broke a few hearts, learned my lesson, bla blaIm generally a good person at heart (despite what some of you think), but I have my moments just like most people Im sure. That's kind of humorous though that you're making this out to be like my punishment for any wrong doings in my past.

No Im not on any meds, yes Ive been drinking on the weekends when I go out, no I havent been smoking pot or anything. Just a glass of wine every night with dinnermy mind has been extremely restless lately (probably ever since my recent breakup). I have lots of nervous energy and have become somewhat Obsessive/Compulsive about cleaning, and I used to be able to take a nap, no sweat, but lately when I lay down on a Saturday afternoon, tired as hell and hoping to catch a couple of hours of sleep before I go out, I cant. As soon as I lay down, I start thinking of things I want to do like go clean my car or sweep some dirt i saw in the kitchen earlier, and then Im like, ahh screw it, I cant sleep and then I wake up, even though my eyelids are so heavy and i generally feel tired.

Your dreams tend to be a reflection of whats going on in your mind. Usually if youre stressed to the max or kind of anxious, you tend to have crazy dreams with lots of randomness in them, which Ive been having as well as this one nightmare.

I dont think karma is coming back to haunt me.
