Emu Xboard 49
Anyone has it? I'm actually considering buying one...but I'm not too sure...what I want to do with it is kinda clear but I'd like to use the knobs for controlling DJ Software (traktor) and ableton too...how do the knobs feel? I've searched for reviews and they all say it's the best bang for the buck...but no-one really mentions how the knobs are...feel free to comment on the other things too, please!
Thanks!
i have it. the knobs are great (havent tried it on traktor tho... maybe i will sometime).
overall, i really like it, great keyboard.
do they have some resistance? or do they just feel cheap?:-)
I mean...err hope it makes sense!
thanks!!!
i know what u mean, it has some resistance (wouldnt say that it looks cheap). u should get the smaller one tho, if ur going to use it for traktor (only 2 octaves, great for performing).
I wanna hve it for both...and I'm ok in the booth I play in with lappy and a bigger keyboard + CDJs...
thanks!!!
*off to buy! :-)
I have this..i use it in ableton to DJ sometimes as well. I don't really think it feels cheap..compared to my experiences with some M-Audio controllers..these are better. I like the little aftertouch feel on the keys when you hit a note instead of that plasticy feel of the M-audios. Should check it out! They just came out with a 61 keyed version too. Btw i have a 49keyed one.
great...I thought of M-Audio but what I didn't like is that they have 8sliders + 8 knobs...I just prefer rotary hehe :-)
thanks Finall Call :-)
I had the Xboard 25 but sold it recently coz i want to get the Novation remote SL..It does not feel cheap at all i just found it complicated to set up, think the novation will be much more convenient for production..
my xboard is arriving tomorrow hopefully...I think I will skip school so I don't miss the courier...whaaaaa
It's the controller I use as well, haven't had any problems with it, It looks and feels solid, not cheap at all, plus the 16 programmable knobs are quite nice for programming a softsynth
so here it is, it has arrived at about 10AM and I spent 4 hours now playing with it, feel of the keys is just great...but the buttons somehow "shake" when you play a bit more agressively...
the primary use for me was ableton DJing and I can tell you this baby works sweet with it...knobs are sensitive enough to make a pretty smooth mix...when you use latch mode you can trigger loops (or anything else) from half of keyboard...and play on the other...which I find a great. Actually...the feel of the knobs is even better then on some higher end mixers!!!
what more...49 keys are all pretty solid and nicely sensitive to dynamics and velocity...
I think that I won't regret buying it...EVER!
glad you like it..lol yeah i know what you mean when the buttons shake when you play hard. My ex g/f came over one time and she started banging on it and i ended up flipping out on her >.< i love that controller =]
yeah, I have totally fallen in love with it, thanks for the advices guys...
you've helped me decide really
I have the XBoard 49 and love it!
Nice going b00ster
Congrats dude! Looks awesome
thanks guys, I love it :-)
for less than 200 bucks it's a great keyboard to play with...and also a great ableton controller
just love it
I bought the Xboard 61 just yesterday. Played around with it for a few hours in Cubase, and I'm just loving it.
great!
to me the choice was 49 because 61 wouldn't fit on my desk lol (great decission, right?
)
I bought the 61 coz the 49 was out of stock
And I'm glad I did now, it does have a little bit more freedom.
what's the difference except the obvious number of keys?
I know it has some buttons (for recalling patches)...that's all?
Yeah, those are the only differences that I know of. Patch selection is okay, but you can do that with the slider anyway, so it's a little obsolete. But the extra keys do give that little extra to make some melodies
