Nem is back!

I just cant help myself.

Update on Nems ventures away from DJing.

As some of you may have seen, I cant stop posting here and truth be told I miss DJing like crazy.
Basically settled in to a 9 to 5 which is okay, Im not a stranger to work and dont have any issues with it in its self but am having a real tough time adjusting to the fact that this is all I am and all that I do for the rest of society.

It is pretty grim when you wake up in the morning and realise that you are in the rat race like everybody else. The politics of work can be just as bad if not worse than the DJ world. Working for a corporate I have discovered is full of big fish in small ponds and each one thinks they are more important than the next.

I have just about had it with this lifestyle and have decided that I am not content with this style of life.
I come home in the evening; feel too tired to do anything useful. My wife is pretty much in the same way due to University and the quality of life if anything has gone down for both of us. At least if I was bubbly I could look after her a bit better.

I get to write some music at the weekends but its not the same as being able to sit down with it in the middle of the day when ever I want.

Basically its official. Nem is back

Will start playing gigs here and there and will build it up again so that I can quit my job as soon as I see that I am making enough from DJing to live comfortably.

I think at the end of all this, I realised that I needed a holiday not retirement from being a DJ.
Its so deeply rooted in my soul that I might as well accept it. There may come a time when I am too old to do it, in which case I will have to take it as it comes but I have plenty of time left and intend to use it as well as I can.

Will see you around on the forums.

Cheers
Nem

LOL!

Nah, hoops is for Sissies. Was always into Football (Not Soccer).

Seriously, it's as they say. The grass may be greener but you sometimes have to test it too in order to appreciate what you have.

Cheers

nice one mate

if u need that extra income, why not settle for a part time job and do the DJing alongside with it? instead of the full course meal of full time work?

Glad to see you back Nem - Though I didn't think you'd stay away too long

Hellllllllllllll yeah! I want to hear some more tunes from you- what you have posted up in the producer's forum has always been top notch. Welcome back !

welcome back buddy...they say adulthood is all about defining yourself through what you are DOING rather than who you are...i think this is why DJ'ing makes us feel like children in a toystore again because the love for the music and the art is so deeply rooted in who we are rather than what we do at the moment. cheers

Posted by n3lly on Oct-10-2006 17:29:

Well that's a cool surprise!

And you're lucky, from the way you've described where you're at, you've basically found what you love to do in life. Very few people get to do that, or find out what 'that' is

Congrats mate, and i look forward to your useful posts on here, helping both the experienced and the noobs alike

Good luck with everything!

nelly

sometimes all it takes it that little time away from the decks to clear your mind and gather your thoughts

i took some time off after i ended my night, thought about quitting, couldn't do it

now i've got a new mix ready (will be posting this week) and i'm getting back into the scene

good to hear you're back

great to see someone who is so dedicated to the music that they can't stand to be without it.

i think if you had more quality time with your family when you were DJ-ing then you're making the right choice.

Welcome back

Welcome back Nem

I hope you can get enough gigs to live from DJ and share time with your family.

Wish the best for you

Thanks a lot guys.

I still can't help but feel a little cheap, announcing my retirement and then coming back 2 months later.

None the less it does feel like order has been restored in my life.

Cheers
Nem

yet another story of the grass is greener on the other side. Why the hell would you ever think that a 9 to 5 would be better than making a living as a DJ?? Unless you own a business, getting a regular job is shit. Welcome back btw
