Meadows, Collins & Oakenfold; Thursday October 12th

who's coming out?

Posted by money_penny on Oct-10-2006 17:39:

i'll be there

Posted by Ted Promo on Oct-10-2006 18:37:

I'd only go for Chris' set. Which means you might see me there

Oh, and hearing Oakey trainwreck worse than I do could be funny. As well as seeing Oakey and Sandra have a coke fight.

*wait... scratch that, I have to be at work at 8am the next day.

Oakey isn't worth that much.

yep I've heard that he tore the place apart by trainwrecks

Here's a mini review from another board:
quote:
His mixing was absolutely atrocious. I have listened to some of his live sets from back in the mid nineties and he actually can transistion from track to track with being in the mix over a minute each time. He would transfer baselines real nice. He has skills, but on this night in Atlanta... He refused to use them. 3 times during the night he started to mix a track in (brought it in like 1/4 of the way), you could hear the high hats and then brought it back out and mixed it in later. I went with a group of 6 and we watched from the balcony all night and we were amazed at how terrible he mixed. I really believe he did not give it his all. He was very lackadazical in everything he did in the booth. He was giving hugs to people then rushing up and down the stairs then hurrying up to mix something in quick. His bass transfer was terrible. He slammed so many mixes over it was really bad. He also turned the volume up extra loud during some breakdowns and had the system peaking when the beats kicked back in. I dunno. I think it was the worst performance I have ever seen in atlanta by a dj on the circuit (in demand/top 50/whatever). I really really was disappointed. I invited some friends to check it out and then didn't really notice the mistakes (not edm fans) but i did and thought it was really a joke.

Trey, have you heard his lastest EM? It's a joke, it's worst than me and you when we first started mixing

to be honest i dont know why poeple pay to see him when they know its gonna be shit...... doesnt make sense to me.

here's what WAS awesome about thursday night. chris rocked the place, again. they had sweetwater blue, heineken light, and a few other beers for only 2 bucks.

Well, like I said....I *heard* he tore the place up, which is why I wanted any kind of confirmation or whatnot.

I didn't go (due to the primary reason of me having a cold) but had I been perfectly healthy, I still probably wouldn't have wasted my money

I've never been one for Sandra Collins and haven't had the pleasure of hearing Chris play, although I've heard many, many good things. Maybe I'll get to hear him sometime soon.

Oakie became a joke to me once he released Bunkka. The only good thing to EVER come out of that horrible release was Southern Sun.

I will agree with Mario in wondering why people pack the place to see him...but I think the ones that DO go are the ones that don't listen to other big DJ's...ya know? Kinda' like "Oh, I know who Oakenfold is, so I know what Trance is..." type thing.

But hey....to each their own, right?

All I can say is...Ferry f'n Corsten on the 25th

Maybe all those that went to Oakenfold can come out and take notes to see what a REAL DJ can do
