detecting other computers on your network? wifi?
Hi guys,
just wondering if it's possible to detect / name / list all the other computers connected to the same network that i'm connected to?
Can this be done on a wireless network?
Thanks,
David
If the computers have proper sharing rights and such it's possible yes.
moved into a house recently... and neighbours have an unsecured wireless netowrk
i kow if they check their router it'll show up that i've been connecting..
Just wondering how i'd go about seein who else is on the network?
whether sharing is on or off you can always see what MSWindows machines are on because you can browse the network for computers.
You can sniff the network with a program like commview or ethereal (note i had no use for ethereal) also the line pretty much has to be uncrypted or using the same keys.

log into their router IP and block all their ports, change their admin name and password, and troubleshoot them for $30 an hour.
