Mom hit boyfriend with baby
Oct. 10, 2006. 08:37 AM

ERIE, PA.A woman used her four-week-old baby as a weapon in a domestic dispute, swinging the infant through the air and striking her boyfriend with the child, authorities said.

The boy was in serious but stable condition yesterday at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, police said.

"Never, never, never. I can never remember anything like this," District Attorney Bradley Foulk told the Erie Times-News.

Chytoria Graham, 27, of Erie, was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. She was held yesterday in the Erie County Jail in lieu of $75,000 (U.S.) bail.

The infant, whose name was not released, suffered a fractured skull and some bleeding in the brain, authorities said. His head hit Graham's boyfriend, the baby's father, police Lieut. Dan Spizarny said.

Authorities removed four other children from Graham's home and placed them with the Erie County Office of Children and Youth, Foulk said.

Erie

Ha ha Erie, PA making the news. This behavior doesn't surprise me. how many times I went into a gas station when I lived there and some mom is screaming shut up and swearing at one or more of her kids. Quite possibly one of the most depressing places I've been to. Gas stations on every corner, half of downtown is made up of parking or vacant lots, and more fast food than I've ever seen in my life (Erie County is the most obese county in Pennsylvania, which is pretty damn obese). Teen pregnancy seems to be quite prevalent when you look at who's pushing baby strollers on the sidewalks. My gf was a nurse while I lived there- lots of suicides, overdoses on prescription pills, people bleeding from the stomach from alcoholism (all in a town of only 100,000 according to U.S. census). Not to mention some very strange people (that never got the opportunity to travel outside of Erie County). Their town slogan is "keep Erie weird". No thank you. Its unfortunate because a lot of this was brought on by the decline of manufacturing, leaving an unemployed and uneducated workforce. However, GE has plant there where they build locomotives. Its pretty neat.

Mom tries to trade 4-year-old son for a wedding gown
Posted Oct 11th 2006 3:30PM by J.D. Griffioen
An Iowa mother has taken the old "baby as commodity" story to an all-time low. According to the Davenport police, 31-year-old Marcy Gant has been charged with a felony count of child selling for her attempt to trade her 4-year-old son for a wedding gown. Well, at least she was trying doing the right thing by getting married, eh? I guess that's her logic: He might not be her kid anymore, but at least he won't be a bastard.

The sad thing is, apparently she didn't even feel her son was worth the whole price of the dress. Police said Gant bought the wedding dress from a local street vendor, provided a percentage of payment, and offered her son to make up the rest of the balance. "During negotiations for the payment of this wedding dress, on at least two occasions, Ms. Gant offered her 4-year-old son as collateral," said Dave Struckman of the Davenport Police Department. A street vendor? Something tells me this was no Vera Wang.

I guess with a population of almost 300 million, your bound to find a few crazies out there...

and since when have street vendors been selling wedding dresses? If you have to get your dress from a street vendor, i don't think you're in any position to get married...
