Thumbs up Adam Curtis - The Century of Self

Remember that documentary that aired on BBC which turned out to be a big hit, The Power of Nightmares? Well, here's another great one by the same guy, Adam Curtis. It's a documentary about the current state of democray and the impact of the public relations industry on it, who's father Edward Bernays, Freud's nephew, is largely responsible for. Bernays put Freud's theories of human nature to use for business & marketing to create artificial demand at a time when consumption was based entirely on need, forever changed how business and consumers interacted and participated in the market. Not much later, his skills which proved to be so successful for the business world, were put to use for politicians and selling them to the public. This ultimately ended up shaping democracy as we know it today. The Centry of Self is definetly one of the most captivating and unique documentaries I've ever seen, simoultaneously being very informative and entertaining. Enjoy:

It is a great post.

I learned more from watching the first video about phycology than all of HS.

I spelled that word wrong.

Yeah, its inside someone. Didn't you double click? 1 in 3 has worms. They are parasites inside your tummy and sometimes they crawl around your body and you wouldn't notice until a yr or so. That is when you poo the older ones out.

How was I to know to double-click?? I just pressed play

Yea, I know all about them, we have a good friend who's a homeopath and she taught us all about them and how to get rid of them (and if you have them).

It's STILL gross...

^^ Jesus Christ! Not everything you find discomforting is a "conspiracy theory."

EDIT: I've even read a response to questions directed at Adam Curtis on BBC's website asking him if he thinks the US goverment was involved in 9-11, and he said no.

i don't find anything discomforting
i regarded it as a conspiracy theory because of the way it presents itself, something which you are in no position to judge, since you haven't even read it. and regardless, calling it a conpiracy theory doesn't prevent me from believing it.
