they're selling presales, but i'm sure some tickets will be sold at the door, but i'm not 100% sure - i'd check rhythmism.com for better details

There's only a measly three dates, but if you're in New York, Chicago or Los Angeles, Magda's coming to town.

Magda makes her way stateside next week in support of her latest CD 'She's a Dancing Machine' out on roommate and pal Richie Hawtin's M_nus label. The mix packs a whopping 71 tracks, so lord knows how she's going to lug all that vinyl from the airport.

Magda's actually grew up in Hamtramck, Michigan so we hope there's time for her to pop in and visit the family. If you don't know her sound, minimal techno's the thing, though of a sweet rather than pummeling variety. Magda told Groovetrackers her feelings on returning stateside:

"I feel it's important to stay connected. I can't just leave where I came from and say fuck it. I think i's important for me to be here in Europe and to learn what I need to learn from what's happening and then go back and play those things there. Just because it may not be so big there it doesn't mean the people don't care."

Magda US tour dates

Oct 19 - New York, NY @ APT
Oct 20 - Chicago, IL @ Smart Bar
Oct 21 - Los Angeles, CA @ Circus with Adam Beyer

She was in Dominican Republic saturday night at Caribbean Sun. I recieved many real time text messages in regards to her rocking it proper. she is part of AM-only dj agency now, so you will see more of her on the road.

To go or not to go??? Barosoap can't, so I'd be flying solo on a Thursday night, which kind of blows.

Posted by sandstorm03 on Oct-19-2006 21:31:

we may go

Posted by SidMl on Oct-19-2006 21:38:

$$ at the door?

Posted by sandstorm03 on Oct-19-2006 21:40:

i think like 12

Posted by Groundhog Boy on Oct-19-2006 21:48:

$10 advance, $12 at door. dcctnycprincess said they still had a stack of tickets at Other Music when she was there yesterday afternoon, so I'm not really as worried about tickets being sold as before.

oh she's gonna get u for that

Posted by dcctnycprincess on Oct-20-2006 12:39:

can't believe i'm in the office at 8:40 am after getting home around 3:30 am.

lots of people. nice to meet sandstorm and his gf

sort of a weird set-up - long and skinny venue with no real dancefloor.

drinks super super super strong got totally plastered on 3 drinks.

music was really good - but to tell you the truth - don't remember a whole hell of a lot.

+1

Barosoap ended up coming out, too. I'm sure she feels phenomenal this morning, as she got up at 7:30. Good seeing Lee and Jen, Francis, Claudia, and Kristin.

Camea absolutely rocked it early on. She needs a different, non-Magda haircut, because I thought Magda was already on from afar. APT isn't really a big "stare at the DJ" venue, so that didn't help in determining who was on. Magda was great until we left, but we did have to take off early due to it being a Thursday.

In your opinion, do you think Beyer is even worth going to because of the venue?

I like the venue, the sound is very good, but as dcctnycprincess said, it's thin and the dancefloor is only like 6 people wide.

Oh, w/e I told you to go without me. Not that it mattered anyway.

I look like a skank and feel even worse haha I had to be at work by 8:30 and sit through a tedious meeting on cancer staging. I was so hungover I felt like puking the first hour and had to avoid eye contact with anyone.

Last night was one long binge drinking session from dinner w/ co-workers on the company tab, to a pub for the Mets game, a stop at home to pick up GhB, and a few of those strong cocktails at APT. The night was very fun indeed.

The music was on point, the crowd was fun and friendly, and it was a pleasant surprise running into a few TAs. Didn't want to leave around 3 but knew I'd pay for it in the morning.

I don't remember much either, but I do remember witnessing a little friskiness!

The dynamic of the party could be pretty different depending how hard he plays. If he plays hard, it could easily turn into an uncomfortable mosh pit. If not, it could be really fun like last night.

Damn you. I started talking to someone I thought was your friend from Toronto. I even asked him, "Where's Francis?" and continued with my one-sided conversation. The kid was polite and never stopped me. Much later when you never came back I realized he wasn't your friend...

See you later tonight, and DON'T bounce early without saying goodbye!
