Guys it's sooo obvious you are all basing your opinions on a biased point of view. 90% of the members of the MONTREAL portion of these forums love house and house music only, whenever you mention trance they go all apeshit and start bashing the shit out of that style

I think ARMIN deserves #1 he has contributed so much to the community in the past years, and his state of trance radio shows are maybe not as good as let's say episodes 100 through 150 but still he gives TRANCEaddicts like me a chance to get up to date on the newest releases and productions.

And come on.. who can say that Armin can't work a crowd? I mean he is one of the RARE if not the only trance producers that actually got to play at STEREO.

Armin #1 all the way, it's his year, and pvd, tiesto #1 or #2? pfff.. tiesto hasn't done shit this year, and pvd.. well let's just say it's better to listen to his sets with the volume turned all the way DOWN.

I dont think anyone has said Armin cant work a crowd, he can.

Although I dont get it when people say Armin has contributed so much to the scene... My response to this is, he's a label whore. Marc's response "All djs are", to me that means that Armin = nothing special. He has a radio show, yes, so does John Digweed and he promotes a shiteload of REALLY GOOD producers, albeit 90% of what he promotes is house music.

Markus Schulz is a trance DJ that has a radio show, the guest djs he features range from the full spectrum.

Pete Tong has a radio show, and he sees it fit (well BBC sees it fit) to promote all forms of electronic dance music on Radio one, on Tong's show he tries to get mixes from all the up and coming talents whether they be trance/drum & bass/house etc etc.

So with that I think the whole radio show thing is put to rest, what's left? His productions? To me DJMag contest is about the DJ, therefore I dont even think about their productions, and that goes for all the DJs I vote for aswell.

Ok so as far as his DJing goes he does what exactly that other DJs dont? He works the crowd, right, ok thats cool and all but there are ways to work a crowd without dancing ontop of Mixers and/or Jesus Posing for an accumulated 2-3 hours throughout a DJset. IE: Nic Fanciulli was working the crowd at Stereo, with the equipment only. Some Djs can light up a crowd just by keeping a smile on their face or bobbing their head to the music, IE: James Zabiela (Well he can do it just by doing crazy shit with the equipment also). My premise, Djs can work a crowd without putting on a little dance number behind/ontop of the decks.

So then, tell me now, what does Armin have going for him as a DJ that numbers 4 and downward on the list dont? (apart from guys like fahad that get blue, red and white glowsticks and combine them to make the dutch flag then dance infront of his holiness the poser jesus all night?)

I say Armin because I'm choosing the lesser of the evils. Think about it, no one other than Armin, PVD or Tiesto is gonna win top 1. You won't see someone like Nic F there...

I wish Sasha and Digweed could fuse like Goku and Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z and form a super being, they'd win every year.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I'm going to say mine (wow, the power of being a sentient human being). Armin van Buuren should get number one THIS year because I feel he deserves it. Anyone with the egotistical desire to change the way someone feels is rather pointless; so do your usual innate right as a human to elaborate an opinion--but don't go all kamikaze and come off as though your opinons are holier than thou. No matter how hard you try, you can't force someone an opinion because your way is the only way.

Contrary to the assumptions before mine, I see things differently. The top 100 is for 2006, not of all time. It seems like people are getting it to their heads that this year is the end all be all. Assuming we don't fall to nuclear holocaust, asteroids, disease, etc. there are 5 billion years for you all to experience the feeling of the DJ you want to be number 1. Maybe not in this life, but the next.

But back to my point: I've been to (at least twice) to a party/venue that included one of the top 6 DJ's for 2005. I've heard them play this year, many times--Armin more than the others--and I can say his parties stand out (among other things he's done for the scene like ASOT). He probably couldn't get #1 years before, but this year should be his year. Now fuck me for having this opinion--it's the way I see it, and coincidently the way I voted.

Again you make a huge post, yet you give 0 reasons as to why your opinion is that Armin "deserves" #1.

And dont feed me that shit that its just an opinion, cause opinions are for democrat voting hippies.
