Thumbs up The Departed - Scorsese's Back !!! *Spoiler Free*

* POST Contains NO spoilers !!! *

Terrific on every level. This is the movie that Scorsese fans have been waiting for. Powerful performances by all major cast memebers and a engaging story that will stay with you long after you have left the theatre.

Quite possibly one of the best films to be made in the last 3-4 years, and certainly the best film of 2006.

Go watch it NOW !!!

Ps. Please don't post spoilers for those who haven't had a chance to see it.

Bun a fat one, and enjoy the ride...

PS. Make sure you take a whizz before going in and avoid that supersize coke. The film runs almost 3 hours and it's hard to miss even a single second of it once it starts. Suffice to say, I'm pretty sure I set a world record exiting the threatre once the end credits rolled.

^^ was it really 3 hours?

If that's the case, the 3 hours went by really fast when I watched it.. great movie though. Terrific performance by Leo.

IMO DiCap actually stole the show. My biggest complaint though is that this movie IS a remake of Infernal Affairs and I have not had a change to watch the original. Suffice to say Scorcese did pull off another winner but I did not find his directing to be as effective as it usually is.. I had a hard time taking the movie really seriously... maybe that was his intention to add a little comedy to it.. nevertheless its quite a gripping story that should keep you glued to your seat until the end... until I see the original I can't call this a masterpiece whatsoever.

It was sooooooo good. The comedy added a lot, especially the quips between wahlberg and baldwin and damon's characters.

I haven't been to a theatre in ages. I would really like to check this movie out. I don't watch much TV, but the previews for this look mighty interesting.

^5 Top notch shit!

there were a couple of open ends that pissed me off though. Other than that it was definately a great movie.

dilogue was better than average. Film was well below expectations. Violence, death and murder, its been done. Many times.

Jack was well below his standard.

DiCaprio, Damon and Wahlberg were all very good.

But the movie in general did not hold my attention other than to shock me and not shock me all at the same time, at the end.

i LOVED this movie! have to agree with thread starter that this is one of the best movies to come out in the past 4-5 years. Scorcese should finally win an oscar for this but if he doesnt then fuck the academy...they already snubbed orsen wells, hitchcock, and kubrick so it really wouldnt surprise me. Also did not bother me AT ALL that this was a remake of another film....seriously is there some rule that says you cannot remake a film??? perfect example look at cape fear ******s...new film for a new generation, or in this case different film for a different audience

oh yeah if you didnt like this film go eat shit and die

It was good, not spectacular, but warrants a watch. I'd say 3 stars.

very few films can - but this film is definately up there as one of the better ones.

I am by no means a movie critic.. This is the second movie I have seen this year...

It was a great movie.. I enjoyed it a lot (I know, I know - great review) I don't want to spoil any of it as none was for me.

I would recommend going to see this..

It was 2.5 hours but at least 20 minutes was commercials and trailers...

Funny how you enjoy things more when there is a little piece of you in the movie.. One of the bad guys last name is Fitzgibbons..

true like ky stated. i actually thought the departed was going to be structured like casino n goodfellas n have the voice over+rapid/cutting feel to it. but this is not to say that it still wasnt an awesome movie

for what it was, it was thouroughly entertaining
