Starting a scene in a new area
So I've been a big Trance fan for years. A couple years ago, I moved away from Denver where I saw Markus Schulz, Max Graham, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, and Tiesto (Saw him 2 hrs before I left Colorado for the first time... Left the club, left Colorado...
)
I checked for a scene before I moved. "Northern California" seems to be Sanfrancisco... Chico has few enthusiasts as well, but around Eureka it's all HipHop.
I was wondering if anyone had any idea's or experience for starting a new scene. I've been offered my own radio program whenever I want on a community radio (new non-profit radio that not too many people have even heard of). I've got a couple of my own idea's but I need into a club. In a place that's dominated by hiphop, how do I sell trance? Part will be my own enthusiasm, but I think I'm gonna need more. Any ideas are welcome.
One of my ideas is to mix in a bunch of my favorite 80's remixes that many people have at least heard of. In this way I can relate trance to music people listened to growing up. It seems to have worked for the radio.
Thank you for any of the ideas presented here.
these sort of things require you promote the shit out of yourself and any affiliations....trust me promotion is like 90% of the work of a beginning scene or beginning DJ

EUREKA LOL goodluck!!
You know there is a couple groups I need to talk to as well.
Deep Groove Society/Church of the 12" Circle do alot of hip hop, house, and a little bit of trance.
I could probably get help through them or something.
