Hey guys it seems whenever i try and make a more complex melody it sounds way too ,random and dissonant.

and when i make a less complex melody with shorter intervals it sounds like much better more melodic.

i have 2 examples with 2 different synths.
have a listen and let me know which one is better and why?

Even when not taking account the horrible rhytm in melody A, I liked the B better. You're using an arpeggiator, right? Spacing in both was too random imo.

there's no groove and no feeling in either of those melodies, plus the synths dont sound so great either.

I'm not sure if I'd help you much by commenting on the samples, but what I'll say is that there are particular rules in music theory for making a good melodic line which work most of the time, especially for classical derivatives like trance. Obviously in order to come up with anything original you'll have to bend or break the rules, but if you find it difficult making melodies then I'm sure that it would be helpful for you to brush up on them.

I can't really go into minute detail here but I'm sure some of the theory links in the tutorial thread must have some sections on melodies and counterpoint.
