after living here more than 3 years:

pros:
intelligent, educated, friendly people
reasonably good edm scene, esp for house
amazing independently owned restaurants, maybe the best in the usa
low crime rate for a major american city
lots of really fun festivals
solid public transportation

cons:
very, very expensive
the trance scene is better in LA
snobby people
bad weather
don't even think about moving here with a stickshift

that's off the top of my head.

I heart SF

Posted by Insomnia`SF on Oct-23-2006 04:22:

oh yeah, and there are wayyyyyy too many hipsters in this town

Thanks Sir! Glad you provided a reasonable list with a con for every pro.

Also, I love the weather in SF, tons of microclimates. If you don't like the weather in one area drive a few miles away and it will be totally different. Someone told me that but I don't remember who

i was just owned last friday night into saturday noon by 7.5 hours of lawler madness

ask anyone who's actually clubbed in sf, our edm scene is nothing to complain about.

Posted by infinity HiGH on Oct-23-2006 05:08:

yea san francisco has always been a great edm city from what i've read. deep house is supposed to be really big there no? i dunno why but the vision i have of that city is that its a representation of true underground house.

yeah deep is the sound of sf house, but to be honest i'm bored of deep house after like a half hour. the city really emcompasses all sounds of house music. there's a shittonne of underground house parties across the city, but i have enough trouble keeping up with the touring talent. besides, the music might be just as good at a locals only event, but there's nothing like partying with a crowd holding passports from new zealand to london to germany to argentina, like i experienced on friday night. i dunno, something about chatting with chics with different accents that's fuckin hawt!

Posted by infinity HiGH on Oct-23-2006 05:33:

i looove deep house so i'd probably be in heaven there.

Posted by Protege on Oct-23-2006 05:43:

I plan on moving there eventually. Gay people are nice.
