Whats up with ICE??

Is it really closing? Hopefully this isn't a repost as i didn't see any other thread about it. Is Infected Mushroom the last night?

Posted by gehzumteufel on Oct-23-2006 07:17:

well they say johan gielen is supposed to be there nov 11th but beyond that there are NO dates scheduled showing on their website.

Posted by DaveT on Oct-23-2006 07:41:

Interesting. Just last week they had dates past Nov 11. I clearly remember seeing dates for some major acts past Nov 11. Throughout November and December, including Ferry Corsten on Dec 30 (he has been listed on the website for this date for quite some time and it was still there just last week.)

It's pretty much known Ice is/was going to close due to hotel construction (but a new one was gonna be built as a part of it, I think?)....but that wasn't going to be until like sometime in 2007.

I dunno. Wonder what's going on.

i was told back over Labor Day it was closing in October but was wondering about the Nov and Dec DJ bookings...

however, i've heard from 2 Vegas locals just over the past weekend that its closure is imminent...apparently this Sat nite (oct. 28) is possibly the last nite.

they aren't getting the numbers they hoped for on event attendance.

after their lease expires they will demo the buiding for hotel construction, i believe that's sometime 1st quarter of next year.

Junior - I don't believe that correct.

their lease runs through 2012. there is an accelerated buyout clause starting next year this pays them i think $5 million to leave in 2007, dropping by $1 million each year as it gets closer to 2012.

i did hear that if they missed/were late on a certain # of rent payments that they would be in violation of the lease terms and have to leave early.

i don't know if the closure this week is due to them taking an early buyout or violating a lease term, but its definitely not due to a lease expiration. construction has already started on the W hotel around it so no doubt those guys want them out of there sooner rather than later.

Well I work in commercial real estate here in the Corona-Norco market so i don't know the details on their contract. Just letting ya know what i've heard through well known dj's and producers out in this area of So Cal.

what kind of commercial work do you do?

one of my companies is a residential and commercial appraisal firm.

well we all agree its closing this weekend....and the W will demo the club. it was the owner Greg that told us back over Labor Day about closing in Oct. the lease terms i had heard earlier this year...but i agree i don't know why things got accelerated. based on the $ i'd guess they were making there, i'd take a $5 million buyout if it was me.

Maybe they should make another "The Club" TV series where they repeatedly say how Oakenfold is the best DJ in the world!

anyone know why the club doesn't pull the numbers it should? I asume its one of the only clubs of its kind with strickly EDM, so what gives?? is vegas only for booty house and hip-hop? is it the location with it not being connected to a hotel? is it the dj's being booked???

they have the talent coming in so that cant be the problem.

Posted by darthseph on Oct-24-2006 09:15:

It's gotta be location in my eyes. I went there for my 21st and to be honest I can see too many people making a trip from the Strip or anything to get there... I just really wanted to go to a strictly EDM club in Vegas so I chose it. Sad to see it go to be honest... people who listen to Top40 bug me so I guess I wont be clubbing it too much in Vegas... lol..

Hopefully they can contract into The W or whatever is being built there...

Edit: Definately of interest that they show dates on their calender and are selling tix allt he way out to December on Wantickets.com

closing has nothing to do with not pulling heads. the property was purchased by the w hotel ownership.

house/trance is making a huge comeback and las vegas is leading the way!!!

i know the perception has been hip hp and top 40 and it has been, but now clubs like empire, jet, tao, are playing moer and more house. you are going to see some very big changes in vegas soon as far as music programming for nightclubs. we're making a comeback...finally!

haha, so apparently it is not closing after all. Word came down from the top to all the employees that this sat is the last sat. Now I guess word came down that they will stay open til march 07. I guess def jams is buying em out for a few months til march.

so no function 1 trade offs yet!

Posted by Cool1g on Oct-25-2006 05:35:

the def jam thing is just for the NBA all-star weekend. but yeah supposedly Greg the owner said yesterday they will be open until that takes place in Feb or so.

i'm betting they close anyway for the most part and just open up for maybe a couple of select events until feb or march.
