well if he wants he can download them..but since he is getting a sirus radio thing...then whats the point....im just saying they have good track selection on some of their radio stations
I've had it for about a year now. BBC radio one is great for the friday nights. Area 33 is generally not too bad. my only complaint is that the channel can become rather repetitive. It has gotten much better lately though, with lots of new (to sirius at least) tracks. Also, im a big Stern fan.. so that made the deal a slam dunk. If you do get it installed, have it wired directly into your deck. the FM transmitter thing sucks especially in the GTA.
why would u pay for something thats suppose to be free. i swear theyre gonna start charging us for oxygen one day
and the reason they do this is because people like you will pay. just like raps tv and leafs tv and how they have every soccer game on sattelite now. why?!? because theres enuff ppl stupid enough to fall for it. if everyone said fuck you and just didnt pay we'd still have all these things on our regular cable package and on our radio
i mean fuck if they wanted to, our cell phone service could be free. instead of a ring tone when u call someone they could put a quick advertisement. then the advertising companies could pay for our phone use. but nope wont ever happen, instead theyll put ludacris on the fuckin ringtone telling me to keep ballin and spend my cash on useless shit i dont need.
FUCK U CORPORATE AMERICA!!!
/end rant

| Originally posted by Vivid Boy i know but the cable companies are being retarded too with this shit. i mean just because theyve gotten away with it once doesnt mean it was a good idea. i mean i cant watch a leaf game on regular tv anymore?! like wtf, who is really hurting here? me or the leafs (who suck ass and are losing viewers by the year in a league that has been ruined by a strike 2 years ago)? and btw i woul totally listen to the cherios jingle over paying 45 bucks a month for my service and im sure alot of students would too |

| Originally posted by Moral Hazard If paying the bill is a hardship perhaps you shouldn't have the phone. It's not as if cell phones are necessities. Cable companies haven't "gotten away with" anything. They provide a service that people are willing to pay for. Granted, the whole idea of bundles is annoying but hey, you don't have to have cable... you choose to. Just like the cell phone. If you aren't willing to pay for it then don't but some people are and as long as that is true these services will continue to operate as they do. Rest assured, however, if people decide they don't want to pay the services will not become free, they will no longer be offered. |
i had sirius for 6 months and then couldn't handle it cutting out on me anymore. I hated waiting for it rebuffer in the middle of a 'mix'. Which brings me to my next point the guys on Area 33 can't seem to beat match if their carrers depended on it!
In the end I got frustrated and felt it wasn't worth it yet. I'll probably check it out again in another year or two though when they've made some money and can improve things a bit.
I used it in NYC, New Orleans and Los Angeles and I had the same complaints about the service no matter where I was in those places or anywhere else along the road in between.
Getting back to topic I have an XM sat radio with a home and car base station and it's totally awesome. They have two channels dedicated to house/progressive and Trance. It hardly ever cuts out on me and works on those long road trips where all you normally get is Country music or nothing at all.
The music content is fantastic and the DJ's on XM do know how to mix/beat match.
I would highly recommend it. My only slight reservation is that it is definitely not CD quality as both Sirius and XM advertise.
Vivid no ranting
P.S- I am getting this because i am frustrated with my Ipod battery dying out too quickly, and i cant handle taking the unit back to plug to my pc and then downloading , uploading etc.
much easier-sit in car , press play
thanks for the advice, so are you saying its better to get XM or Sirius?, cause i still have time to return it!
I dont know about the buffering problem, but i have a friend whos car i played it in here in vancouver, no problem with him! I dont live in the GTA anymore, but will it work in the US if i drive down?
I personally have had no issues with buffering of the channels. However, from reading some of the forums it is not an uncommon problem - especially in cities that have repeaters. I'm in London - no repeater here.i haven't had problems with it in Lodnon nor anywhere in southern Ontario, or the northeastern US. perhaps I'm just lucky. XM appears to be in trouble from what i've been reading lately. do your research before you decide.
thanks ryan!
Well i am in vancouver, and should work here, but ill check out the sirius forums!
Regarding reception quality it does help to properly mount an antenna on the roof of your car. (It's easy, they just stick on then run the wire under the rubber molding of your rear window into the trunk and then into the car. Also it pays to get an interface that plugs into your Auxiliary input on the back of your head unit (most decks, even OEM ones, have one for a CD changer) This will improve the sound a lot. Otherwise the Sat radio transmits a weak FM signal to the frequency of your choice which does cause interference as you drive around and start picking up other radio stations on that frequency.
XM is doing just fine business wise. I would pick whichever one has the better programming for you. They are both awesome.

I have had this for over a year now and Area 33 is pretty good at night with the mixes.
During the day when they just have tunes played they are not mixed nor are they trying to be it's just like any other radio station. At night is when they have on the mixes, which are usually pretty good. PVD has his vionic sessions going on now for about a month and I always tune into that, Gabriel and Dresden have a show - decent as well as countless other shows.
Sirius has been a god sent to me. I have no listened to regual radio since the day I bought it - Serisouly, I would rather listen to music that I make up in my head than shitty comercial radio.
I have 3 units now, 2 for both my cars and the new Stilleto. AMAZING..
it's worth the $10 a month (I pay per year)
yeah area 33 ftw
if you go to siriuscanada.com and sign up for the 3 days fre you can check it all out, its a great thing to have, i just bought the sportster off ebay yesterday cant wait to get it and get the subscription!
Cool, after some reading a looking at a few XM units, i personally saw the lineup on sirius better. So ill stick to the Replay unit i got from sirius.
Well i cant use it till next week anyhow , have to wait for a appointment to get it fixed here at futureshop on saturday!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
All I can say is Vivid for Prime Minister.
