Havn't been, I'v heard good things... Checked out the new club Canvas. Im going to contact PURE this week to see about doing a show there this Saturday a friend has booked, and no venue!

Woops! That's never good.

The pics I saw of the place looks like the place is amazing. Have to check it out next time I am in A-town. What is Canvas and what's the scene like there?

was on 6th sautrday night and was going to enter Pure but we got sidetracked and woundup at Treasure Cove and then various other places...

Canvas is very small, its an upstairs downstairs, and has art and a big bar. The place is centered around the bar. However, they do have like 3 Plasma Tv's and a couple couches lol. The sound is horrible, but the place just opened. With some more sound, the place could be great. Capacity I was told is 275 people, but... I doubt it lol

It's on 5th between Congress & Brazos

rude staff and crappy atttitude crowd. I felt really uncomfortable in there, it's more of a "who's who" type of scene. Has a lot of potential, over time I guess it'll work itself out.

did you get that feeling as well?? I walked in , actually was invited in cause I roll like that, then walked right out, I hate Meat Market Clubs, and like you stated, it has potential.

Its still on 6th.... That hurt Barcelona eventually. I loved that place. At the moment most people (who are looking for a house electronic music experience) will not venture to 6th. Maybe in a few years.

Is Barcelona hurting now? I have only been a couple of times, but the times I went it was a pretty good sized crowd

Pure's on 6th st, in the midst of about 40 other clubs competing on the lowest common denominator of who can get you the drunkest fastest to get laid cheapest. (in no particular order).

If that's your scene, cool.

But it's hard for a club there to charge a cover (as there are many other places that are free).

The upscale action in Austin right now is definitely
Belmont--I saw a 700 series BMW getting valet-parked as I drove by tonight.

& Union Square is very popular.

But those are very much "hang out" clubs, not dancing clubs.

I like Firehouse Tuesday nights.

no wonder, everytime I walk into barcelona it fucking sucks, all hip-hop. I'm like wtf I want some god damn edm! So I resort to my nights at Fabric. I have nothing against the gay crowd there they're fun to watch, and Jason Jenkins can really throw it down. Plus Karma does its afterhours too sooo hopefully more stuff will come around though.

Ain't it truth Jason can knock it down. I am going out this weekend and Fabric will be on my list of stops. Holla at me if ya want to meet up....
