-- do you balance ??

do you balance ??

so my mother has worked in a bank for over 30 years.
of course she is a great financial adviser for my future, no doubt.
but she is anal about balancing her checkbook.
she is always nagging me, "did you balance your checkbook" after i write a check.
not once have i ever balanced my checkbook.
first, i rarely write checks.
second, i feel banking systems these days are reliable enough to conduct transactions without keeping a paper history of it.
now my mother handles all of my grandfather's financial obligations.
he is old and the light is getting brighter for him.
in my mothers defense, the bank credited her father's account $400+ for a bank error.
the error was found by my mother while paying her father's bills.
she noticed a discrepency between her balance book and the bank statements.
she won.

with that shit said, do you guys balance your checkbooks ??
do you go so far as to record your credit card transactions as they occur ??
do you wipe your own ass ??

srsly

Everything is updated online as it gets done, so why bother writing it down?

Online Banking > *

I also use Excel spreadsheets, to predict my budget accordingly.

I am an utter financial mess. I don't keep a proper track of my income nor outflow. Plus credit makes accounting all the more difficult.

It's high time I reorganize my financial stuff. Being a student that's ok..but once I start drawing a larger salary, it'll be a different matter altogether

I never wrote a check in my life.

That statement will have a dramatic effect only if you make it when you hit 70. So calm down.
