a lil bit at the expo. played around an hour next to a pair of Tech cd-player (which we know are total shit!).
plain ordinary 4-ch mixer with 2 channels supporting digital input as far as I remember. quality faders and x-fader. felt very smooth. nice comfortable knobs and stuff... nothing special imo.

Had this mixer for a while now and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Only thing it lacks is fx and I could never get my efx to work properly with the send and return function so I had to use it over the master.

Depends what you want to do with your mixing really and what your after from a mixer but its a very good mixer and I've never had any problems with mine.

If you've get any specific questions about it let me know

Never heard anything outstanding about this mixer... seems fairly ordinary... Haven't yet played on it though...

A lot of you guys are saying it's ordinary, but what if all you want is an ordinary mixer? not something with all of these fancy effects or features like Pionner or A&H, just something you can mix with. How does it hold up quality wise?

Never said anything was wrong with an ordinary mixer.. shit, I have an ordinary mixer.

Me too (PCV 275), but as far as it being an ordinary mixer, is it worth it? I mean would it be as good as say an Ecler or A&H quality wise? sound quality and build quality. It seem quite affordable, and the Ecler Nuo 4 that I was thinking about getting....i'm thinking about just getting a newer ordinary mixer, but 4 channels.

Then, clearly, it's the mixer for you!

(Did you really have to ask that?!!?)

I hate the EQs on the Nuo4... personally.

It was just hypothetical, I wasn't asking anyone...just kind of thinking out loud. I was just asking about it quality wise, since I hear good things about other company's mixers like A&H, Ecler and Pioneer.

Yeah the knobs seem really big and I've heard the mids aren't too great on it. The mids are fine on my PCV 275, but the lows are bad.

I love the big knobs, hate the curve...

low and highs on 275 don't do much, but i got the kills, and im an avid kill user.

ya i just want an 'ordinary' mixer. my whole setup is technics down to the speakers, so i figured i might as well go all out and get the mixer too. i only got 2 turntables but eventually i would like to add 2 cd players so i guess this would be just fine for me. im not really into fx and all that jazz. i keep it simple thanx for thre replies

yeah, the weak eq's are the worst thing about that mixer

2 ivanbee:
i think you should get the mixer. im quite sure about quality since its Technics for f*k sake and i dont think its the case with the cd-player. i'd buy it. looks and feels solid, and it's layout is simple and familiar (djm600-like). oh, and i think it has optical faders..no?!

Posted by ste_johnstone on Oct-27-2006 10:45:

It has all digital channels too for connecting ur Cd players when you get them

Posted by blacknoizybox on Oct-27-2006 11:55:

actually 2 of the 4 channels are pure digital

Posted by ZeJayMan on Oct-28-2006 12:26:

Buy the 4 channel Denon x-1500 or something, i played on that and it's much better than the Techs. There's nothing horrendous about the techs mixer it's just super average.

The knobs are nice, and once you get used to them, other mixers with "normal sized" knobs feel kinda puny!

The EQ's are nice....the majority of NUO users love em. And they all have +10/FULL KILL EQ's, and a kill switch for the bass (same thing as turning the bass all the way down)

How sensitives are the knobs? Like do they respond really well with a lighter touch or do they take a little more force to use and get where you need to be...EQ wise? And how would they be going from the smaller knobs on the PCV 275 to the larger ones on a Nuo 3 or Nuo 4? Whatever one I decide on, haven't found anyother mixer I really like for that price, everything else is more money...like the Rane: Empath, which is almost $1,000 for only a three channel mixer, and the DJM 800..which has a lot of features I don't need. I wish I could try out a Nuo 3 or 4, but Guitar Center doesn't have them. There's a store called DJ Supply, but I'd have to see if they have any on display to play with.

You meen feel wise? I think they have the perfect amount of resistance, and the large knobs (theyre really not *that* large...about 3/4" in diamter) feel really good...

The EQ response is great, going to +10db on the positive side, and down to a kill on the negative. It's nice and linear, and wont fully kill unless you turn it ALL the way down..so you get a nice smooth progression to -30db (-25 on the MID) until you fully kill it.

Where are you located? Seems to be the Detroit area, no? Hhm...theres no dealers there yet...DJ Supply is in the works tho..ask for Justin Kruse

Yeah Detroit area, in Farmington, like 30 or 40 minutes from Detroit. I'll wait 6 months and see, cause I'm probably not getting it till around April next year...need to save some money.
