Back In Highschool
for those of us out of highschool
where did you stand?
which group did you chill with, did you try hard in school?
did you leave highschool thinking
"that was an awsome 4 years"
or
"im glad im out of that place"
do you think it prepared you for university/college/life?
my own input:
i was always at every party, known by everyone, i was more on the jock side and i find it no surprise now when i look back that im one of the few people i kno that goes 2 huge EDM events since me and my buddies were party animals back then
i liked highschool alotl but i definatly like the way the real world works more
Back in the days when I was young -
I'm not a kid anymore.
There's some days I sit and wish I was a kid again.
high school was a joke. it was just a popularity contest and revolved around drama
i was the geek. but a bitter one because of my fathers death so i rebelled and skipped class etc
yeah thats it pretty much.
I graduated this year, hell I miss it like shit. I took it for granted in a way but I suppose thats how everyone does when theyre in school, miss friends and all those folks you probably wont ever see again. Im gonna go cut myself.
No but seriously, I miss it like hell. Everyone for some odd reason knew my name, my friends knew i produced music and was a DJ so I got some fly bitches in my day. I was the P Diddy of my highschool
Everyone knew me but I knew know one
So often I'd have these people randomly talking to me saying hi and my reaction was who the frack are you?
I always hated little cliques and crap but I used to hang out with the punk/skaters type of crowd and smart ones/computer geeks too ( top of the class type ).
Popularity as it is done in the US ( and perhaps Canada too ) are not at all the same in Europe( for one most teens don't drive cars to school in Europe )....
As I went to 2 High Schools, I had 2 different experiences. Basically in my first school, I made loads of friends but the system was corrupt so nobody really cared about learning anything so I moved.
In my second school, I did better in my studies but I didn't really bond with as many because I didn't like as many people there and I missed my old friends.
I was neither really popular nor invisible, I liked being neutral. I wasn't a geek either, I like to have a balance of work and play, so overall, it was OK.

I guess I was like the Fonz. I knew everybody, everybody knew me, and the teachers couldn't figure out why I was still in school 2 years past the time I was supposed to have graduated.

In high school I was known for two things. First, for attending only about 2 days a week and yet "somehow" getting a perfect or near-perfect score on every test. And second, for an elaborate and audacious conspiracy I devised which ultimately "persuaded" our principal to abruptly resign.
The latter certainly gained me a certain degree of measured popularity, but I wouldn't say that I had a very close group of friends at school. This is largely because most of my friends prior to high school went to a different high school, and despite this I chose to close friends with them in lieu of making new friends at my high school.
I was definitely more of the "im glad im out of that place" persuasion (hell, that's why I stayed out of there 60% of the time anyway.) It was just... rather boring. I could think of many more productive uses of my time, to say nothing of the more fun uses.
I don't feel it really prepared me for anything. Not that I felt unprepared later on... but I feel that good parenting and a decent head on my shoulders were the reason I was prepared for college and life after college. High school's contribution was negligible.
the best times evar..... oh man how i miss my highschool... it was the bombs.com
hmm highschool.
throughout highschool ive always looked like the nerdy kid in class. in junior high i pretty much hung out with the bmx-ers and rocker kids, however i didnt have much of a life then due to being on the swim team. i still did manage to get into trouble all the time though.
i moved to a new school for my senior years. hung out mostly with the aggressive inliners and triad members. actually my best mate used to be one of the more senior triad members in the school. senior high was fun. so much fun i managed to get myself kicked out halfway thru my final year.
to keep a long story short, i returned a wallet i found that had been reported stolen the day before and the disciplinary board decided i should take the fall for that and a couple of other matters. i wasn't guilty of any of those cases but a really bad record + getting arrested a month before didn't help my situation one bit. nevertheless i was allowed to return to sit for my finals and i managed to graduate
High school was pretty cool. I knew almost everyone and almost everyone knew me, plus I had a VERY large group of close friends. that being said, i regret not doing more. I should have gone to more dances and gotten laid, should have gone to the football games and gotten wasted afterwards....should have done this, should have done that....ya know what, i had a good time, met a lot of people, and thats all that really matters.
I liked HS though. It really did take me 6 years to finish, because I skipped class just about every day to smoke pot. I don't regret one minute of so-called "wasted time". I had a good time, partied a lot, made friends with everybody, and didn't rush into university like everybody else (who later ended up realizing it wasn't for them, wasted money, and dropped out without getting their degree). I got suspended numerous times and expelled once for a whole semester.
It was definitely an awesome time in my life, but obviously I'm glad to be done with it. It DID prepare me for university, because I needed physics/chem/bio courses to get into nursing. The social aspect of it helped me too I would say, but I doubt I'd be fucked in life if I never went to HS. Like Arbiter, I would chalk up any of my successes to good parenting and having a good head on my shoulders.
back in highschool i was a ghost. i had a few close friends and a couple groups i socialized with all the time....i didnt go out of my way to make tonnes of friends. as soon as i left i thought wow im glad its over but now that its what 4-5 years since i graduated i wish i could go back...such carefree days but so much wasted time

| Originally posted by Theresa At the beginning, I was the loud, popular, friendly, bubbly kid. By the end, I was the quiet, "avoid everybody", keep to myself type. For the most part, I hung out with the "inbetweeners". They weren't the cliquey "cool kids", and weren't the "dorks/goths/losers/weirdos/stoners/nerds". We belonged everywhere, any group was happy to hang with us, and we were generally liked. It was a huge group of us. I left highschool thinking "THANK GOD ALL OF THIS BULLSHIT IS FINALLY OVER!!!" I hated highschool by the end, mainly because my last year consisted of me working full time, and going to school full time, which was a massive pain in the ass, and incredibly draining. I wouldn't say highschool itself really prepared me for life, but a lot of decisions I made during those years did. |
i was a big dork in highschool, and i still am to a certain degree.
i hung out with everyone pretty much, the jocks the stoners the nerds.... but highschool was a huge waste of my time as it was stupidly easy, didnt need to do any work to be able to pull off a 90 average, smoked alot of dope and drank alot of beer.
so i guess in hindsite highshcool was pretty awesome.
im glad that the stupid imature bullshit is over tho. the day to day highschool drama was a pain in the ass......
but meh i turned out awesome so i guess it cant be all that bad
I left high school sad, we rolled hard.. some GREAT times.
Getting my high school diploma is still one of my proudest moments, just because I fucked around so much...I don't think anybody thought I would finish.
Funny thing is, I made the honour roll my final year AND won a math award. I think a lot of my teachers were happy to finally see me working to my potential.
I was pretty popular and neutral with all the different groups, but I was more known as Jamie and Amanda. We were best friends and inseparable. I never had crushes on all the heart throbs like the rest of the girls, but I was friends with them. I dated the geeks. Actually, 2 geeks I was very close with (one was my boyfriend in 7th and 8th grade and the other was his best friend) went to Harvard and are supposedly gorgeous now. lol
My high school (the one I went to before I moved to Japan) wasnt too far from Laguna Beach style kids. All rich jewish obnoxious kids with nice cars and all that. Me and Amanda skipped a lot of school and smoked pot, but we were still very "preppy" and blended with the other chicks, we were just more badass.
Then I moved to Japan for 2 years because my grades were horrible from the above paragraph. it was a really small school on the military base, so everyone was like one big clique, but I was obsessed with my boyfriend whom I lost my virginity to, lol. So I was once again, inseparable with someone. but i was on the tennis team, student council and soccer team and was doing much better in school with honors classes and a solid B average.
Then I moved back to the states my senior year and went to a fairly ghetto high school and made a few random friends here and there, but mostly stuck to myself. Almost got jumped a few times by ghetto black girls cuz they ran their mouth to me and I ran it right back, but of course they never did anything except point and talk shit. There was a very small preppy group at that school and they tried to recruit me, but I wasnt interested. I was hanging out with Amanda again that year every weekend, but she was at the other school and we did e every weekend and went clubbing and partied with older people and thought we were too cool for everyoneeven high school boys were annoying at that point. My grades dropped severely and i barely graduated with a really low C average
but i guess like jenny, i dont really have any regrets. i only wish i would have found my school sooner though instead of dicking around on and off at community college when i was 20/21...oh well.
