how to make acid lines?
hey all,
just wondering whats the best ways to make acid lines. i guess one example in a track i'm thinking of is sean tyas - lift. he's got the thin acid kinda running in the background almost like a secondary bassline.
what i've been trying to do is get kinda a sawish buzzy type sound and throw an arp on it... but i don't seem to be getting very good sounding results. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

1 polyphony ,no attack,or sustain and play around with the decay, release and portamento
maybe layer 2 saws and detune them by 3. and add some decay. reverb
i just listened through that song and never heard an acid.
they're not lines, they're blotters
check out E and G

can you post up a little sample of what you're after?

ReBirth (which is now free) prolly has several example projects with acid blines.
Go back in time and get yourself a Roland TR-303.

Just get a saw wave, whack a load of distorion on it, put the resonance up quite high, then fiddle with the filter till you get a sound of acid you like, then play with the adsr & tyr using low key notes & you should have a quality acid sound.
Most vst can do acid but they vary on quality. Audiorealism's Bassline is the one I use & i think its the best one out there.

I dunno exactly what "acid line" you mean, but as i heard "lift" some time ago, i would say its kind of a long delay on a normal bassline, with env and hight filter.. then just add a long delay, i think theres an Ohm Boyz Plung in preset that creats that very well.
