Tiesto keeps slipping , Armin #2 Tiesto 3 check it out for yourselves http://www.djmag.com/top100results_2006
i guess this was said in the main discussion thread, but dj dan #5
i understand a large number of votes coming in from the US, but dj dan ??
and who in the world is amadeus ?
oh well
we all know the politics behind this poll
good to see above and beyond rising tho
i'm not sure but amadeus might have been the 'joke' vote this year. he could actually be a popular dj, but i've never heard of him. (waits for tayfoon to confirm)
the joke vote was lord of bass, some greek hard dance dj who apparently is pretty terrible and some people tried to vote for mikey mike again
Amadeus just got all his friends to vote for him 100 times a day
Sammy is slowly rising !

Now, he isn't my #1 fave DJ but I did put him in my top 5 vote... IIRC he was placed 22nd last year... and now... Non existent on the list... Goes to show how COMPLETELY BULLSHIT the dj mag top 100 has become... /end rant |
What a joke.
Oh well, at least we got this.
i think TA poll was bit more accurate of the connaisseurs of the scene
dj mag is a representation of the mainstream club scene, we all know that. it's targeted at people like barstars and clubber kids, not so much as people like TAs or members of trance.nu, we know bit more about what's going on
yeah, loss of j00f from top 100 was a blow, same as placing dj dan before ferry

can't please everyone.
any system where you can vote 100 times a day for anyone you want, real or not, is fcked. And stop putting TA on a pedestal for comparison apri.
TA (and trance.nu) are not the bible of trance.
Both votes are general representations of a sample consensus of who has done well this past year to entertain or expose themselves. Take it with a grain of salt because of the way the vote is conducted and that only those who voted (some many times, some once) get a say in shaping the rank. Also take it with a grain of salt because there's a 1 in billion chance that poll is an exact match of YOUR poll.

armin should be 1

| Originally posted by apri_peel no, it wasn't representative of all of electronic music but it still was a fairly good mirror of how the trance scene was doing what i said was that TA poll was more accurate of what djmag poll was originally conceived to be. so next time, greg, read what i said first before criticizing my point of view and telling me what not to do |
Wow, I wouldn't think that people who thought of themselves as being into underground music would care about charts. Isn't that for the Top 40 crowd?
there are different kinds of charts
top40 charts are one of them
Yeah, but charts are still a sign of what appeals to the masses
(not that I think trance is anything underground in 2006 anyways).
There are uses for charts. I use to use them for discovering tracks that I might have missed. But if my favourite track/artist/whatever isn't on top, who cares?
