progressive trance basslines help

so I cant seem to get that progressive tracne bassline going right. I know that there must be some sidechaining involved but I seem to just get that "umpa umpa" style bassline when I do this. The progressive style basslines seem to have less of the "umpa umpa". any help would be nice.

Use long bass notes on every kick. Like this:

Then use sidechaining on it.

Also, reduce the amount it side chains, rather than going all the way to 0, maybe 50%.. that will get rid of the "oompa oompa" a bit =)

Fuck sidechained basslines already. It's pass� to even be saying that they're pass�. Do a real bassline and don't be lazy.

Poor patterns cannot be improved with any amount of sidechaining. Layer your bass and try some different patterns, it's not really rocket science.

if im not doing an offbeat bass, (gay) its almost always sidechained. sidechained bass is just always fatter.

It's not fatter. It's louder as long as the kick isn't playing. A fatter bass is just one with more harmonics filled in at the right ratios.

Your bass doesn't even sound sidechained. There's never any chance for any artifacts to emerge because the bass never plays when the kick is playing. And the tail ends don't count. You could just as easily cut them before the kick plays and turn the release to 0. You'd be better off just compressing the bass on its own.

well it is sidechained thats why the kick thumps so much. and theres a bass note during every kick, listen to it harder. you probably hear sidechained bass all the time and dont even reconize it because its not the classic sidechain bass sound.
