Trance

I find it to be the definition of almost all music I listen to now. The music I enjoy most is the music that puts me in a state of mind outside of reality. No matter how fast or slow the beat is. Or where the breakpoints are placed in a track. Or what the beat structer is. If I am put into a state of trance, then I am listening to Trance.

Ok thanks.

Trance music doesn't put you in a trance.

If it does you've taken something you shouldn't have.....!

Yah, I just get coked up and listen to beeps from my microwave. The little platter inside even spins like a dj. Craziness.

I prefer the label 'electronica' because it covers more genres and styles. I only consider music 'trance' if it does put me in a trance. Most 'trance' music today doesn't do that for me.

I get into a trance when I drop a crap.

Eewwwww.... 'electronica'

Remember, kids. Only clueless rock music journalists still refer to electronic music as 'electronica'.

Are you going to refer to all electronic music as trance? I actually prefer EDM. I also prefer people calling EDM electronica, instead of techno if they knew of anything other than the word techno.

"techno" has become this general term for everything electronic. its become a word for absolute shit music, it makes real techno look like its all being made by dj sammy when half the time they dont know of anything other than were in heaven and listen to your heart.

go to a disco biscuit, new deal, pnuma, or any transfusion jamband concert ~ that shit will put you in a trance. i dont do drugs but i get soo high off the music.

phish does it to me too but they're dead now...

bisco

ps: transfusion is bands performing electronica music. most transfusion bands are trio's w/ a bass, keys, and drums. sometimes guitar.

A lot of music has trance-like qualities to it. One part of trance is hypnotic and euphoric, the other is ecstatic or euphoric, slightly hypnotic at points...different sub-genres of trance stress those things more than others. A lot of music, especially dance music, is trance like due the idea of repetition of beats...rhythm over a period of time, and effects in the tracks, like those produced by the Roland 303 back in the days of Acid House. I prefer to just call what I like "progressive electronic" music. Now it's not a catch phrase for all electronic music, just a particular type that uses more of a progressive structure and is a bit more forward thinking, and is somewhat a fusion of different genres.

For a catch phrase, I just like to call it "electronic music" instead of EDM (which implies sometimes that electronic music is just intended for dancing, or anything with a beat is used for dancing and that's not always the case). I still use EDM sometimes, I admit, but I think "electronic music" is more appropriate...if your talking about the whole scope of electronic music, and not just dance stuff. And besides, not all dance music is electronic either..so..i've made my point haha.
