John Digweed in India

Diggers plays 3 dates in India in November... 9th in Delhi, 10th in Bangalore and 11th Bombay. Its been 4 years since I last heard him play... and he was mind altering then...

So...

What sound (s) can we expect to hear now... has his style changed lots since 2002 and what gear does he use on stage...?

...and yes, I've already checked the website... Its not very informative.

Arrow It's very interesting

When i used to be in India, i used to so hope that one of these guys would show up. They never did.

I am sure whatever he plays is gonna be lapped up by the crowd.

I'm not entirely sure they will... They seem to like it tougher, like PVD's style... he's been a huge success here...as were the Filterheadz. Sasha wasn't quite understood, both times he came out to play in India...

There'll be some who'll completely lose their minds with his sound... and others who won't not like it... they just won't get it...

Not to get sentimental.. it won't be the same without you around.. having said that, read my question dummy... what kinda shit IS he playing these days?

Nasty electroy minimally techy house?

most of the evolving EDM culture is playing some sick minimal-tech-house-electro goodness these days. Although I wish diggy and sashy still played some of the stuff they played in 2000+

Minimally techy house hasn't really taken India by storm... and as far as Electro goes... they all love "The drill" and "put your hands up for detroit"... Beyond that, the horizon's a bit hazy, maybe its the smog.

Toronto, I think diggers may be in trouble...

Posted by Allied Nations on Oct-29-2006 19:43:

Hahah I remember playing the Drill @ Zenzi ages ago. I think I was the first DJ in India to play it

I think diggers is fucked.

Posted by nikhil chinapa on Oct-30-2006 14:18:

Its not all bad... a lot of people are looking forward to the gigs and the Experience always spends a lot of money on promotional shit.... but there's an ambiguity about what to expect from the gigs....

The worry with big name djs and India is they sometimes feel that since its a third world country and they're being paid ridiculous money anyway... they can get away with playing anything, or not really working very hard on the night...

I guess we should get our billion boys to get off their asses and vote you into the next DJ mag100 poll... THEN maybe they'd sit up and take notice

IMO he wouldn't care less about spinning a bad set in a london club. Also, I think it's so much more difficult to gauge what the crowd will expect if its a new country with a less developed EDM scene as compared to the European countries. He might play it safe and belt out classics and anthems, or he might just do what he's doing in other clubs and play the goddam electro-techno-minimal stuff (Ok, I hate it entirely and I hope he doesn't play that shit in India )

I'd say just don't go into the club with any sort of expectations. If he spins something contrary to your expectations, you might not like it. I'm sure someone like John Digweed's gona be entertaining regardless of what type of music he's spinning

DJ's are rather predictable these days.

Digweed should be dark and housey imo...

You can download some of his sets from the TOTA download forum...

I'm soo pissed off...all these artists hit India when I'm not around...

I wonder how the trance scene in Delhi/Bombay is doing...
