What annoys me so much: mixed tracks on Audiogalaxy
(Posted again: I don't know what happened to the first thread, it's broken)
You know, I really dislike when people put mixed tracks on Audiogalaxy without labelling it as Various Artists or:
ID3v2:
artist: (dj, who mixed the compilation) - (original artist)
title: (title)
OF COURSE those ppl label the track normally as artist - title. Lots of trancey freaks like me are only interested in full vinyl/cd rips, so you can imagine how I'm mad when I have to delete about 40% of my fresh-downloaded mp3s because they are mixed !!!!!!!
Older tracks, like from 1999, are almost impossible to get on AG in full version.
Yea, it sucks!
I have about 20 odd tracks d/l from AG that are ripped from mixes etc... but it is so hard to find a none mixed version of most tracks that i end up keeping them...
[Dan]
i don't mind the mixed versions!
true.....but
it's better than nothing....
What bugs me is that ppl complain about this, like vmc. Dude, we don't live in a perfect world and thinks happen, true no tags does bug most ppl but it's reality with audiogalaxy, same with napster (when ppl used it) and any other file sharing application. BTW, i do have all my tags labelled btw.
How could people liked the mix versions? It's not that big of a deal but it really is a bitch when you find some old track on AG you've been looking for a long time and it turns out to be mixed...especially when you have a 56k. I have broadband so when I get a mixed song I shrug it off and delete it, it would be worse though if I had a 56k. My 2cents...
dude i totally agree with you, especially about the older tunes!
>JM<
how hard is it to differentiate between a mixed file and a vinyl/cd rip? 99.9% of the time i have no problem telling the mixed file apart from the full rip.

| That's true. I download almost exclusively old tracks from 1998-1999. The rare ones on AG are not full rips, but mainly from very obscure mixed 4CD compilations and mixes by completely unknown DJs. |

so I tend to ring them from neighbours houses pretending that all the houses are interested in it
, not sure if it will work but its worth a try I think...
i hear ya man, i'm um...what do you call it...kinda ANAL about my mp3s. I MUST have a certain syntax for all my mp3z like:
Tupac - All Eyez on Me - 01 - track name
so it really pisses me off just for having id3 tags. because i just remove them all and have winamp read off the file name itself. this may sound quite unnessesary, but when you ahve 400+ albums it gets kinda hairy, especially when you got 21 albums of one artist or something.
But what pisses me off the most is when a live set has an id3 v. 2 tag, because when you remove it it fucking takes for ever (since the file is so long).
why can't everybody be as organized as me

a little offtopic, but still about audiogalaxy, i was wondering if everyone can only download one song with audiogalaxy at a time, and at max 13k, because thats whats happening to me. i love how AG has such a big selection of songs, but its torture trying to download full sets at 13k. anyone know if i'm doing something wrong or have to tweak a setting?
WORD
wrong tags suck cats hairy nipples
hmm......i tried d/l a liveset b4 at 1.5k/sec....

a bit offtopic too, but has anyone tried registering with ag lately?
what a pain in the ass!
first it tells you your username is taken, but that's normal. then it says your password is too short - need 8 characters (on my 2 previous usernames they are 5 letters with no numbers). fine, but then it tells you you need digits in the password... ok... afterwards, it tells you like 10 times that your password is too easy to guess. WTF??? how is "xoposho37" easy to guess???

| i'm anal not only about filenames and id3 tags, but also if the songs have crackle or other shit in them. if i can't fix it with cooledit, i have to redownload it on my 56k and that pisses me off, caz i wanna enjoy the full version of that track RIGHT NOW oh yeah, doesn't it piss you off when you queue the original track and a remix and when you download them, they appear to be the same mix? and goddamn it i hate when people don't use full rips!!!! |
heh i hope you don't mean the crackle that you hear from vinyls because it could be pretty hard to find a vinyl rip that don't have those static like sounds.
But in spite of this I prefer vinyl rips to cd rips. They sound better to me.

look at the world we live in...its not enough that you have ACCESS to this music, much less you are stealing it without recourse- you need to bitch about it not being *perfect*. i understand tho, i just always remind myself whats up before owrrying about it too much/
