MoN-SooN - Loungery (October soothing mix)

Hi! A bit late mix this month. Also a bit different style (contrary to the previous mix). This time soothing trance and mild progressive trance. The title is a word game with Lounge and Laundry, so you know what to expect. At first I wasn't sure about the outcome, but after a complex experience of the mix I must say it totally relaxes you. The intro perfectly illustrates the theme. Beautiful guitar from Roads, then Sunlounger bassline. Kirsty Hawkshaw's track was kinda build-around track - the most important one, was my inspiration. Lyrics are pure wisdom and the vocal is amazing. Later, Leama and Moor tune (lots of sound of this duo throughout the mix). After that Serge Devant, the mix is evolving constantly, but slowly. Danceable part. With Atlantis and especially Sounds Rushing (masterpiece) we're turning into progressive vibes. After that comes Signum and my mashup of Niklas Harding - Butterfly Effect (Lucas & Beltram Remix) with Deep Orbit - Revolver (Genix Deep Remix). You could experience 'mood crisis' in this part because of deeper sounds. But we're returning from a dead-end street again with little help from Leama and Moor. The classic U Write The Rules makes a great contribution here. I slightly refreshed it (hopefully?). Defiance track is brilliant chill trance, but works here as a filler I guess. Now my favourite transition into Eclipse. Barely noticable. Try to examine it The mix ends with two pure progressive trance killers, because it's peak time (right metatron? ). Joni's track is at least as good as Bali (which I'm a fan of), while Algarve means phatt uncompromising tune

MoN-SooN - Loungery (80:58)
01 Portishead vs Savannah - Roads To La Mar (MoN-SooN Intro Mashup)
02 Kirsty Hawkshaw - Just Be
03 Leama & Moor - Fact Of The Matter
04 Serge Devant and Garnett - Searching For Answers
05 Joonas Hahmo - The Fusion
06 Hydroid - Atlantis
07 Dominic Plaza - Sounds Rushing (David West Remix)
08 Signum - The Timelord (Signum's Spectral Balance Mix)
09 Niklas Harding vs Deep Orbit - Revolver Effect (MoN-SooN Mashup)
10 Leama & Moor - Shades Of Blue
11 Young Parisians - U Write The Rules (MoN-SooN Rework)
12 Defiance - Between Sea & Sky
13 Little Wonder - Eclipse (Leama & Moor Remix)
14 Joni - The Things I Never Tell You
15 Sebastian Brandt - Secret Staircase (Algarve Remix)

Enjoy and relax. Thanks for any feedback.

This set starts off with the all too familiar Portishead track which never gets old and then strikes gold for the first 50 minutes. The last 30 minutes could have been better structured, but the point is I love the way you mix bro. Its so damn creative and people should download this, if not for the music, do it for the mixing. The mashups also add to the overall quality with Revolver being my personal favorite. Keep up the great work Mon-Soon and Ill keep coming back!

wow, pure sugar from Stevie, that means A LOT Thanks for your very kind words!

Ryarni, Pepa, let me know how it was for you, thanks for downloading!

Really enjoyable mix this!! Builds excellantly with some awesome tunes! Was really good to hear U Write The Rules again! Only thing i found id the mix drops off at the end which was a shame!!

Downloading, will post my review in a few days. I had begun listening and reviewing your Sept Tech Trance mix, but figured I should check out the latest and greatest as well.

Posted by Ryarni on Nov-01-2006 08:25:

I love this first track, will listen to the rest soon, thanks alot!

Posted by MoN-SooN on Nov-01-2006 22:12:

djx2, I'm glad you enjoyed it. About the drop off, yeap. I was aware of it. I wanted to include these tracks so badly, that I convinced myself that lounge kind of mix does not have to build up steadily. lol.

alefort, cool. If you had a chance to listen to Atrum, leave your thoughts in its thread. It would be appreciated

Ryarni, hehe, keep updating after every track, lol. j/k
Eager to hear your feedback! Cheers for that

Hey Very Nice Mix Mon-SooN

You are so fucking good at mixing, I love the way you blend tracks together, and the mash-ups are very nice.

Do you have those mash-ups in full lenght, beacuse I would like to play them =)

Thanks for the mix

it's beautiful!

Pepa

thanks Pepa! love to hear that
I have Revolver Effect as a separate track. I'll put it online for you. That is a great opener in my opinion. I remember Armin once used Butterfly Effect in this remix for an opener in ASOT 193 or so. Revolver provides even more catchy sounds!

oww, forgot to answer you mate :/

first of all thanks for your appreciation great to hear that. What I've noticed is that everyone here at TA is getting the mixes to the car. That is of course obvious, but on the other hand - a bit funny. Seems like in crazy world these days we don't have time to sit at home and chill with the music.

oh, and for the track. It is the original version of Just Be, performed by Kirsty Hawkshaw, used in Nip/Tuck OST. Pity the first thought on Just Be is "Tiesto"... It is like Jessica Simpson singing Top Gun's "Take My Breath Away"

fucking brilliant MoN-SooN!

you've definitely moved up a few notches with this mix. it could be that the more progressive tilt of the mix is something i identify with more. really you can't not see the brilliant programming though. awesome intro mash-up. haven't heard that tune in a while and loved to hear it in a unique way again. such a treat!!!!!! after that the good feeling vibe, clean progression, matching and complimenting melodies and unique and refreshing track listing all make for a superb listen. really heads above the rest. and heads above your previous in my opinion. yes, this is my absolute favorite mix from you! incredible mash-ups, wonderfully keyed tracks, makes me jealous! lol.

anyway this one really shows some inspiration and has really inspired me as well. thanks again!!

omfg what a praise! so happy with your comment, that I actually started listening to the mix a minute ago Such an appreciation from my favourite dj here, can't get any happier! I'm glad you can feel the complimenting melodies and that it is an important factor for you. I am actually working on the keys/matching very intensively before I program the mix. I find it entertaining. This is so fulfilling when you appreciate it and share the same vision. Thank you so much for your motivating comment. Are you planning to release a mix in a short future? Seems like you didn't have time for the October mix

Fantastic little mashup right off the start. Love her eerie and emotional voice, so powerful. 4 Minutes in, Silky smooth, beautifully simple Just Be Remix....nice and jazzy sounds fused with her soft voice, great. Love it.

Next few tracks a little funkier, straying away from the smooth jazz feel of the start. No complaints here. 17 minutes in, body is starting to move to the beat, anticipating the next few songs, curious to see where it takes me. Joonas Hahmo - The Fusion ............ perfect track to mix into, tracks complement each other so well, energy is slowly building. I am enjoying this so much!

You mix so smoothly, it is incredible. From 40 to 50 minutes, you lose my attention with the songs that are playing. Something seems to be missing.

At the hour mark now and the energy has definitely returned in the set. Still smooth as ever, fantastic solid mixes. EQing is absolutely perfect throughout, you have fantastic base skills.

Overall: 9/10

Love the tracks, some fantastic mashups, creative mixing. Only drawback is the style of music, lol. I'm on a Techno/Tech-Trance lately, so this is out of your control. I highly recommend this mix to anyone who wants great music to work along to. I wouldn't consider this the type of music I would sit and relax too, still just a little too much energy.

cool, thanks alefort. I remember you being kind of strict if it comes to reviewing, so this review is really growing on me Yes I know you prefer more bangin trance and tech. That's why you should give a try to Atrum, which is my darkest/hardest side. I was surprised this mix does not relax you... for me it is making the real world does not exist and calming me down perfectly. But yes, there is still a regular chillout music out there, like the coded audio stuff, which should definately do for you Thanks again, take care

Posted by alefort on Nov-15-2006 13:10:

I certainly havent found many chances to review Mixes lately, but yours was pure smooth. Your beatmatching, phrase matching and EQing are impeccable.

I will definitely have a listen to your Atrum Compilation, and expect a review in the next few days.
