Radiator
Plain and simple, this fucking SUCKS.
the fan broke off and put a hole in the radiator, yeah I got a proud leak now. But forget that, the problem is that the way they build this car is they shoved the whole fan and radiator so far into the front bumper that in order to change the fan and the radiator they need to take off:
-the whole front bumper
-the whole headlight assembly
-and disengage the airbag thingie
got a quote for $800 bucks
'cause the labor alone is 2 freakin' hours.
How many of you think this is bullshit.
do it yourself. the hardest part is disengaging the airbag which is easy a cheese.

Two hours of labor, shouldn't cost any more than $200. In that case, how can a single radiator cost around $600??? What car is this for? I smell BS.
This sounds like dealership costs. I'd go to a regular mechanic, or do it myself.
radiator shouldnt ever be more than $200 from an auto parts store. and what kind of car is this? fan almost in the bumper? sounds a big odd since thats where the bumper support goes along with the radiator support and what not.

Originally posted by celestialmind That's the thing, the mechanic that always did work on my car doesn't have that computer that you would need to disengage the airbag, only a deal can do that. Roughly $200 for labor including a brand new asshole for me, plus 70 for the thing that the fan spins on, 90 for the fucking fan and under 200 for a radiator, I'm trying to figure out where the other 300 is coming from. I ain't spending that money, FUCK THAT. I'm almost done paying it off, another week to go and I'm done, if anything I'll worry about it after I get all my equipment.
do it yourself. The thing you will need the most you can get from any snap-on tool dealer. A radiator hose pick. It may be 15-30 dollars but it is WORTH IT in terms of making the do it yourself job tons easier.

i just got done reading the dildo thread, and how we aren't calling it a vibrator...radiator...vibrator...they look similar!!
Dude, just don't take the bullshit from the garage. Make sure you get a good deal, and if you know you're not, lay down the rules, and you will!
Or dress up as a priest, like in that movie with owen wilson, but he was acting as a real priest.

for disconnecting sensors/fasteners i have a tiny pocket screw driver (flat head), and a pocket LED flashlight. Little things like that make your life easier when it comes down to it.
A radiator should be a cake job.
He could've had the money available to him, if he didn't turn into such pansy, by turning down those DJing gigs, at the gay clubs he was blabbing about, not so long ago...

Originally posted by celestialmind Jesus Chris guys, that was ages ago, and it has nothing to do with that, it does however have everything to do with a dealer using expensive parts and trying to charge me up the yan-yan with their labor costs. I'll try doing it myself if possible, we'll see what happens.

there are plenty of manuals out there too to see what all needs to be done specifically for that car.
try cavi forums too. they should be good for something finally.

Originally posted by gehzumteufel thats half truth. neither are fully correct as they are NOT specific enough when it comes to narrowing model years down. its too broad and vague at times also.

Originally posted by EXTREMUM Personally, I'd rather get a manual from the dealership. For example, the CD-ROM manual for my car (made by Bentley) costs $95.99, for a reason... 1. It's a German car. 2. It includes everything I need to know about the car, with hyperaccurate specs. 3. Detailed diagrams of procedures, with specs and tools needed. 4. Perfect for the do-it-yourselfer.
