DJ is NO SKILL ???

U know, to play a piano, we need to mastered it about 10 years.

to be a club DJ, you can leart how to mix well approximately only in 3 months.

I'm NOT talking about producer. I'm NOT talking about DMC. I'm talking about CLUB DJ.

what the DJ's do in the club?

the answer is: MIXING and MIXING.

my best friend is a good DJ. he said, to be a good DJ, he should mix well and has a good track selection. a DJ should ACT! What he really means is learn how to smile and use body language to communicate with the crowd.

is that all? the answer is: Yes.

Anybody can be a DJ.

However, DJ is like running. Anyone can run. However, only a few that can be a champion. I respect them.

My point is: learning how to be a DJ is far more easy than any other musical intstrument.

Sure, but mastering it isn't any easier.

People with one leg can't run

and Tiesto can't mix

Oh yeah, and most house/trance djs produce their own tunes anyways

DJ VS Musician

this will be VERY INTERESTING!

Posted by Rainborn on Oct-31-2006 14:42:

Lol, you make it sound alot easier than it really is. One can work and work and polish their skills forever and ever, and with new technology all the time, you gotta keep up to date and learn all the new stuff.
The most basic stuff is what's being exercised in a club by a DJ though.
I haven't grasped the whole liveact concept fully, like the stuff that BT does, but it's probably alot harder than DJing.

Don't you think a really good DJ (As said, you put it quite basic up there in your first post, it's a bit more than that I think) can be considered a musician too? Does it really have to stay at one level all the time?

DJ vs Musician is as idiot as eating a pizza vs playing football

No. They are completely different things.

Music listener is about music too. Does that make him a musician as well?

Okay. I don't know much myself, so I'm trying to learn stuff.
But bands convey their music in one way, by playing their instruments.
DJ's convey the music by playing it and mix it and whatnot. It's just a really different thing and probably ALOT easier than actually playing the instruments, I don't know... I've never DJed before.

People with no legs might find it difficult to run?

Why are your trying to compare dj'ing on a set of turntables with the playing of a musical instrument, for a start playing records is use of pre-recorded music whereas an instrument is live. Your comparison is as flawed as your use of the english language. Anyone who compares dj'ing to playing the piano as one in the same thing is seriously retarded, there like chalk and cheese.

Posted by Aquarian on Oct-31-2006 15:09:

You can't compare DJing to playing an instrument. DJing involves so much more than mixing. It's 99% mental work. You have to be an expert in the field, you have to know and own thousands of tracks, and that means you have to spend hours and hours every week with your nose in obscure music catalogs going through hordes of crap tunes just to find one. You need a good sense of what music works when and where and how to place them in a mix. (and by the way, all of this is exactly why Tiesto is not a good DJ by any standards).

Well, either one can be easy or hard depending how much effort one puts to it, really. It's not really about skills anyway, I don't think neither is "harder" than the other, just completely different
