static electricity problem

Hi there. I keep having a problem with my laptop. Everytime i get anywhere with some music it keeps shutting off . I can tell it is because of static elctricity because at the same time it shuts off i get a SHOCK. I do save often but I am wasting alot of time because of the computer dying. Does anyone know what this is from and how i can stop it?? thanks

Are you sure it's not from overheating? I would check that out first.

My laptop will turn off if I max the CPU for too long.

If it is static maybe look at this

Or google other ways to get rid of it.

I used to get static electricity so bad in the winter that I shocked myself on everything I touched. My roommate actually started his PC from a spark off of his finger before even touching the power button!

Sometimes I used to I wear ESD footstraps home from work and that way I never got a shock. This shouldn't happen if you are grounded properly(wear foot/wrist straps or don't wear socks). You must wiggle your feet around while you work on tracks and build up a charge!!

could try just randomly discharging yourself on something metal or have your laptop placed on a wood desk opposed to one with lots of metalic componets

Or you could wear an anti-static wrist strap!
MMMM CONVIENIENCE! :P

...Some people get a kick out of being tied to things.
