I have a mix on Napster too, its called: "DJ Tiesto - Live at Energy 2000" No, I didn't play it at energy 2000, and my name is not DJ Tiesto, I just wrote that to get more hits, since so many people downloaded my previous mix which I called "DJ Tiesto - Live at Innercity 99".

Posted by phatjack on Mar-09-2001 22:56:

cave there's no need to be a bitch. im just tryin to get hits. im the only dj named phatjack i know, i guarantee that's not a stolen set becoz i have every mp3 on my computer and the trackfile if u need it. if you downloaded it and thought it was worthy of tiesto i think maybe i should go on a club tour or something, but if you're just being a bitch then stop, becoz its not constructive. thanx. any other replies with constructive criticisms and or praise are welcome, as long as its not phrased like a jackass, i.e. cave. thank you

hey phatjack... i don't care what you name your mix.. and anyway who does care, at least explain why he shouldn't instead of a smart ass reply...hehe... cave

anyway, i'd like to d/l it, but i can't seem to find it.. i've connected to a ton of servers using napigator, but with no luck.. tell me what server you're on or something..

The title is shady because his mix isn't live from radio 538 ... shouldn't that be reason enough ?! You could start posting mixes named "Gatecrasher" or "Ministry of Sound" and justify the name by telling people that it is the title of your mix. If your style is really that good, you shouldn't need to mislead people so they would listen to your music. Doing what you are doing can make you lose a lot of credibility in the future (especially if you aspire to advance as a DJ).

peace

King

I think that skywarp is very right, and instead of faking the facts, u can use the tracks selection or the artists who were playen in the mix.

and btw, I think that if I were asked to choose which file to download: phatjack - live radio 538 mix or phatjack - live mix, I think I would choose the 2nd 1 cause I really don't like the radio guys who talk in those mixes.

Posted by phatjack on Mar-10-2001 16:18:

thanx guys.. i'll change the name to
'phatjack - live mix'
if any of you wanted to know the tracklist, here it is.

i have a cable connection. also, i made the mix with a program called 'mixmeister 2.0'.. i recommend it to anyone.. its a very innovative program that lets you work with mixing of mp3s, so yes, this is an mp3 mix. there isnt a club that plays trance for at least 300 miles from where i live, and the nearest vinyl store is 200 miles away (i live in the middle of nowhere, illinois. haha).. so i make my mixes w/mp3s. enjoy.

Posted by Sex-Tazi on Mar-10-2001 18:36:

can u connect now to napster's server cuz I u r offline at the moment (GMT 2 hours. The time now is 20:35)...?

Posted by phatjack on Mar-10-2001 19:06:

hey sex-tazi, im always connected.. just try a different server.

Posted by Sex-Tazi on Mar-10-2001 19:49:

how can I do that?

Posted by skywarp on Mar-10-2001 20:09:

Hmm, I don't want to be mean or anything, but just take a look at what you're saying, Phatjack !!!

quote:
if you downloaded it and thought it was worthy of tiesto i think maybe i should go on a club tour or something

and then

quote:
i made the mix with a program called 'mixmeister 2.0'..

and also, you call your set a "live mix" ... hmm ... does anybody else see something wrong with this picture ...

Posted by phatjack on Mar-10-2001 21:39:

ok man you're taking everything i say the wrong way
the whole tiesto thing was a smartass remark back to fellow addict 'cave' because he was making a stab at me. i in no way think im equal to tiesto.. if u thought i was serious you need to lighten up. secondly, as for the title of the mix being 'phatjack - live mix'.. who cares? i dont care if i didnt mix it on 2 turntables w/vinyl, it still sounds fine on mp3. and as for the 'live' part, if u get that bent out of shape, then just rename it after you download it.

Posted by phatjack on Mar-10-2001 21:41:

by the way, im not snapping out or anything at you, skywarp. im just trying to straighten out my story. and the only reason why i was bitter about the whole title thing, is coz i cared more about a review of the mix than a review of the title. from now on i'll have a different name for mixes. thanx. p-jack

Posted by skywarp on Mar-11-2001 00:13:

Well, I don't have anything against you or your Mixmeister set but the thing is I'd like to know what has been used to create a mix I'm listening to. One of the main reasons I am so much into live sets is to check out other DJ's technique, compare it to my own to see what I'm doing right or wrong. It also gives me ideas and inspirations on how to arrange my own mixes - and you can't really do that when the mix is perfectly (and boringly) pasted together in software such as Mixmeister or ACID ... That is also why I tend to dislike commercial mix CDs since most of them are done in studio (for obvious reasons). So yeah, nothing personal against you ...

peace

Posted by phatjack on Mar-11-2001 00:23:

i got ya skywarp. around here there isn't any vinyl, so when i dj at a place i take cds and i run 2 players plus a mixer. i take vinyl rips and put them onto my cds so that they're as true to the real feel as i can get them, but i cant record a live set i do, so i used this to try and emulate it with the music i usually play. guess i fell into the trap of commercial mixing. haha
