Herb Alpert is a legend. You guys might recognize two of his tracks "Rise" and "Route 101". They were pretty mainstream in the contemporary jazz world. In fact, the beat from �Rise� was sampled by Biggie Smalls for his track called �Hypnotized�. �Route 101� needs no introduction. Listen to those 2 track when you get the chance. Alpert also owned A&M records which stood for Alpert & Moss, his business partner. A&M, believe or not, was the largest independently owned label in the world until he sold it to Polygram in 1990. My favorite tracks which I would highly recommend you to listen to would be these:
Rise
Route 101
Taste Of Honey
Tangerine
Fandango
Green Peppers
Lollipops and Roses
Bittersweet Samba

There�s more great tracks from him whose titles escape my memory at the at the moment, but if you go do a quick discography check on the guy you will be impressed.
