What's going on with ARIA?

So what's going on with Aria. Is it shut down?

From what I heard they are open to people who rent out the place

Not to sure, anyone can correct me....

On XVI there was confirmation from one of the promoters that it is closing down.

Posted by Tag on Nov-03-2006 19:43:

Don't turn your back on all the good memories man. Just because it's gonna close doesn't mean it doesn't deserve respect. If it wasn't for ARIA I would've never found this world so thank you ARIA for your support of the Montreal scene. I wasn't around in your glory days but any club that brings Sven, Mauro, Armin, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk and a slew of others will ALWAYS be remembered.

So sad to hear news like this! I'll miss that place so much.

Some of the best nights of my life were had in that dark dirty place.

I don't understand Tag, you use to love the place, you use to love the Djs that played there, you had good times. Why suddenly it's all shit and funny that it's closing. I understand you have issues, I understand you changed club and don't want to go there anymore, but you don't have to root for one club against another, it's not an hockey game.

LOL

well put!

What are your plans if Aria is closing, Martin?

Posted by kate on Nov-03-2006 21:53:

That's really sad... Aria was the first afterhours I ever went to, and those lights just owned me. Also the first time I actually heard electronic music on a big sound system. I'll have some good memories of Aria, it's very disappointing that they're closing.

Yes

I still love this place even if its having a rough time. They have done nothing wrong to us and we should keep respect.
They were always taking good care of us no matter what.
Remember that.
Remember the good times.
Remember ARIA

Of course he's going to bash the club

When he liked it it was fashionable to love aria, now that people hate the club it's fashionable to hop into the bandwagon and hate the place

I respect Aria as much as you do and for the same reasons (huge bookings. However the huge bookings are exactly what killed Aria.

We have to recognise that our demands towards Aria for them to bring always the best in the world restrained them from building solid local nights.

Posted by Marcus007 on Nov-03-2006 22:54:

Totally. You nailed it Julien.

I think what killed them more was their contribution on big events... it means spending way more and not enough profit to cover their bills since they weren't the only productors.

everything went well until they were involved in raves.
less big bookings for the club, more for the raves, less people at Aria.... until potentially closing the place down
