CDJ1000 Mk3 Firmware Update

Hey gang... if you've got one of these players, i suggest grabbing the new firmware update off pioneerprodj.com

this version 2.20 addresses better reading of scratched CDs...
and (the best) an update to the Master Tempo algorithm.

I updated one of my players and did an A/B with the same track... a lot of the 'suttering' that occurred before has been significantly improved.

My players out of the box were version 1.40

check your version by holding down the reloop/exit button for 10 seconds.

A friend of mine told me that there were problems with the first release of the 1000mk3s. He made it seem pretty serious/annoying since he got scared when he found out the club he was playing at had them.

Any of you guys experience problems with that version?

Do you know what firmware version you're talking about? Mine were fine out of the box... but i just got them back in august.

I put the updater in my CD case... i guess i could always upgrade a player if i came across one out and about that had an old rev.

Does it do anything about the initial horrid inaccuracy of the BPM counters?

Not that they're needed, but I did notice that right out of the box they simply didn't work in the least. My 800mkI's were far more accurate.

I never rely on the BPM display nothing is as accurate as your own trained ears so go on and uptade your cdjs

The official notice from Pioneer doesn't say anything... but when i was playing the same track on both players, one with the upgrade, and one without, the BMP readout was different on each.

then i upgraded the second one, and the BPMs matched... so they might have made some more changes 'under the radar'. a common practice, so i wouldn't be suprised.

pioneer seems to be quiet sneaky.
First with the going to great lengths to cover up and deny the release of an Mk3, now they dont want anyone to know where the messed up with their firmware.
Pioneer, The truth shall set you free!

Neither do I, but the horrendous inaccuracy of the MK3's was too much to notice.

I played on them a week or two after they came out, and tracks whose specific BPM's i happened to know off hand showed up anywhere from 4-6 BPM off on the MK3's, so tunes at 126-128 read out in the mid 130's.

I couldn't believe it as, for the most part, the counters on Pioneer CDJ's have always seemed at least consistent, and these were just all over the place.

theres also an update for the cdj-800mk2 but i'm wondering if it works with the cdj-800 (discontinued model)

mine says: ver. 1.11
and i'm wondering whats the hexadecimal code that replaces the time once in the "debug" menu... when you turn the jog it changes the code. (i replaced it to its initial value) lol i was affraid to screw something up

Posted by Prism on Nov-06-2006 06:20:

it's ridiculous and sad at the same time to see people rely on a damn BPM display any DJ should rely on his own ears period
the latest update dramatically improved master tempo, also it made the decks less sensitive to scratched cds how fucking cool is that? you should take care of your cds like fucking gold in the first place and they come out with a firmware to make em readable even after you cooked eggs on them well not really but you get the idea!!!

Thank god I got a CDJ 1000 MK2 and not an MK3. I have had it for over a year now, no problems to speak of. The BPM I try not to use, but it doesn't appear to be too inaccurate. It's a good indicator to see about where the track is BPM wise. Scratched CDs work fine as well...but most of the CDs I used I take good care of, so I don't have to worry about that.

i found my answer

http://www.djsounds.com/dj/content/...J_Firmware.html

Important: Does not apply to CDJ-1000, CDJ-1000MK2 or CDJ-800.

i would have liked to have improved master tempo and all

glad to c they are updating firmware! i only got cdj200 but one of them has version 1.20 and the other has 1.30 which i found quite odd. they were bought from the same shop at the same time. so im hoping they bring out an update for the cdj200 soon!

Posted by Storyteller on Nov-07-2006 14:17:

wow my 800mk2's seem like totally different machines. They respond very different than before the update. It takes some getting used to imo.

Posted by sterilis on Nov-07-2006 14:23:

bit confused here. so if i download the firmware for my cdj800 mk2. how do i get on it into it? burn it onto cd or something?

Posted by Storyteller on Nov-07-2006 14:29:

if you have nero, close the startup popup and choose the burn image option in the Recorder menu and then select the iso file you downloaded from pioneer.

press the auto beat loop 2 button and the time mode/auto cue button and while pressing those, turn on your cdj, it will say download in the screen... put in the burnt cd and it will start the update.. once it is done you can restart your cdj and it is updated.

Mind ellaborating? I haven't updated yet so I'm a little curious as to what's changed from a hands-on perspective.

You know what I hate? People who don't read threads and just post the obvious attempting to come off as somehow "better" than the other people in the discussion.

Read before posting you knob.

Could be me, but to me it seems as if the jogwheel has become a lot less sensitive. Don't pinpoint me on this though, I sometimes have these off days for dj-ing and today is def one of them.

edit: And an off-day it is, I had the speed adjust button set to it's slowest.... dumb dumb... all is the same.. awesome update

Haha, thanks for the response. I dig your tracks btw.
